After reading an excellent weather forecast for today I thought I'd have a wander around the Glyderau mountains in Snowdonia and take the opportunity to get a little more use out of my new Lee NDgrads.

Despite it turning out to be a rather cloudy day the conditions produced occasional glints of dramtic lighting

Pretty much exactly as it was last Wednesday morning when me & the wife were walking across it, although the near gale force winds kept the cloud off the tops nicely.

I'm certain there's some terrific photos to be had up there, it's just a case of being there at the right time which isn't easy if you don't live there - much like Snowdonia

Live View is definitely the cause, I've noticed because I use it increasingly more recently...it's a great tool for shooting waterfalls etc tripod mounted and it also makes it much easier to judge the position of NDgrads, you do need a couple of spare batteries to be on the safe side though

I've considered it, in fact I actually sent a potential panel to them to gain some feedback on its suitability for LRPS - haven't taken it any further so far though, I think I might though.

I did used to visit their website forum but found it quite an unfriendly place, wasn't much going on there either so don't bother with it now.

I do think that for an organisation which seemingly has a high standing in the photography world it doesn't seem adept at promoting itself

Having learnt the lesson the expensive way myself i would suggest going straight for lee filters, im speaking through experience that the cheaper alternatives are not nearly as good

To get started i would recommend a 2 & 3 stop ndgrad

a polariser is also an extremely useful filter to have

a standard nd filter may be useful but the lee 100x150mm filters can be used in this way anyway, the polariser also reduces light levels so also acts as an nd filter, usually around 2 stops

personally i see little use for a uv filter but if you do decide to buy one id put it at the bottom of your priority list
