Thanks everyone & no problem Tim, no harm in a bit of balanced feedback

Simon

Thanks Andrew, it's another attempted rescue really as the colour version just doesn't work at all in the flat lighting

Simon

Following on from my last post I've just converted this photograph of a snow-capped Snowdon to mono and would appreciate feedback

Thanks

Simon

Thanks Andrew, I think the conversion works reasonably well..there's still no substitute for good lighting though

Simon

Hi Stu,

Great day for reflections, thought your luck might be in. Think I'd pick 2 as a favourite for the colours.

Just a thought but how about cropping the sky and foreground completely on the 3rd shot so it's a pure "detail" photo?

Simon

This one has been sat on my PC unloved pretty much since I shot it in 2008, been trying out black & white of late so thought I'd give this one a go, I'd welcome opinions

thanks

Simon

Welcome...personally i think you chose the best buying criteria there is, there isn't really a bad camera around these days and the importance of actually liking how it feels in use is often missed my many new owners, I think it's especially important and the main reason I chose Pentax too, together with the weather sealing

Simon

Hi Stu,

That breeze stayed away so nice reflections. Looks like the cloud cover killed the sunrise lighting a little though?

Of the series I'd pick the first as my favourite, the lighting has a pleasant twilight sort of look to it and the compositions nicely balanced, might be tempted to crop it ever so slightly on the right to remove the half rock & left to remove some of the gravel - just a thought anyway.

Simon

I agree with your point but you're also supporting mine as I said they need to keep up with consumer spending, today we have instant access to web prices from a whole host of companies, if high street shops aren't clever enough to take advantage of the online market then they are inevitably doomed...the world moves on and business needs to adapt to it to succeed

Simon

I'm not 100% sure that ALL high street camera shops are in decline, I think it's that the ones who don't keep up to date with changing consumer demands and spending patterns are...looking around the web there's quite a few small independant shops which seem to be thriving on the internet, ones that beforehand I'd never even heard of.

Doesn't this partially reflect one of the bad practices of UK businesses...build up a business, gain customers, then sit on your *rse for the next 30yrs without changing expecting still to do well !!

Just my thoughts of course

Simon
