I just bought a Wacom bamboo pen tablet on the strengh of this post - only £49 from pc world - its going to be my christmas present from my wife

I might have just about enough dosh go go for a K7 and am getting very tempted - will it be a good upgrade from my beloved K10d - I love my K10 to bits but i probobly wont get a chance to upgrade again for about 5 years so I am sorly tempted - any pros - cons - advice - opinions from those who have one?

Lol and i really did laugh out loud - srs are about £160 cheaper at £39

You can get a K20d for around £600 as they are being phased out i think but they are an excellent camera - the DA16-45 lens is excellent and is only around £230 new but I must admit the K7 looks very tempting.
As for older lenses you can use all the lenses bak to about 1960 odd i think the K moult will all fit and you need to make a few adjustments to enable manual shooting then get an m42 adaptor for arounf £20 for the m42 mount takumer lenses. I have too many manual lenses to speak of but in genetal terms there are lots of excellent, cheap pentax manual and autofocul lenses out there and its great fun getting the bargains on ebay. the DA18-55II lens supplied as the kit lens is also good for starting out in landscapes but i feel the 16-45 has the edge.

to sum up either the K20d or the K7 with just the 18-55 lens would be a great start and the 16-45 just adds a nice edge to you equipment

I reciently joined a local camera club and i must say that they are a very freindly bunch - some very experienced and some not so (like me)probobly like many clubs up and down the country. WE had a portrait evening last week and I was dismayed to see I was the only Pentax user. No one said anything bad about my K10 or anything but I can see why some people change over brands when every other DSLR you see is Nikon or Canon it does kind of have a non spoken peer pressure effect if you know what I mean. I must admit I even looked as some of the offerings from Nikon this weekend but realised it makes no sense to change brand when its me that needs to improve - not the camera - but i am seriousley thinking about the K7 and my dear wife does not mind as she just got a new horse for £850 so the price is comparitive

However this has further strenghened my resove to get going; enter some of my local club competitions and show what the Pentax brand can do. I will post lots more images in the pictures section for critique in the future as I am determined to start getting better at this.
