Public projections are becoming more commonplace, but never as spectacular as this new technology.

I see a compact has just been (or is shortly to be) released with a built in projector, also a 3d camera with 2 sensors by another. How long before we see a marriage of the 2 I wonder ?

A Fitting end indeed.
Not the comment I expected from someone with a signature such as yours.

Now where's Carl the buddhist ?

If you 2 take Aiki's idea on board then don't forget to pack your bubble mix in a clear bag for inspection at customs.

I fear the shot was lost in the first place, just too dark. 1/8th & iso800 wasn't going to give much detail. I'd have wanted a tripod at that speed, not a toddler to juggle. The fact you got anything resembling an owl shows testament to the shake reduction system.

With regards to white balnce, it's best to try & get it right when shooting as it gives a better exposure, but if you shoot Raw you can fine tune it when processing.

Spot on exposure retaining detail in both the black & white. A little soft for me, if that was the objective then how about sharpening just the eyes ?

RR Thanks for he info I am off work tomorrow so might stay up and see if I can see any. I don't now anything about meteors but if the 0800 -0900 is the time of particular interest, won't it be light by then? Sorry if I am being thick
It will be here, but I'd imagine it'd be dark somewhere on earth Sounds like the closer to dawn the better for us here in the UK though.

I thought it was actually quite positive .. the camera of choice for landscape, macro, portrait but need a D300s for sports due to still slowish AF.
Mike, AP has the review on the Nikon 300s this week, in the shops from today.
I think it's a preview Tel.

I saw the world firework championships some years ago & the displays are short but intense (expensive too I shouldn't wonder) at the time though I was holding a can of lager & not a camera !

Looks like there could be some natural fireworks tonight too !

"The Perseid meteor shower is about to peak. The show begins after sunset on Tuesday, August 11th, and continues until the sun rises on Wednesday, August 12th. A time of particular interest is 0800-0900 GMT (1-2 a.m. PDT) on the 12th. That's when Earth is expected to pass through a denser-than-usual filament of dust from Perseid parent Comet Swift-Tuttle. Forecasters are unsure what will happen, but some have speculated that meteor rates could surge as high as 200 per hour. Bright moonlight will blot out many of those Perseids, but even a fraction of 200 is a good show.

Visit spaceweather.com for full coverage of the Perseids."

Get your cams out and set on manual, or just look up!

Nice shot Pauly, I love the furry little feet. The body being slightly oof is a little distracting though.
