Hello Dave,
I drove to Park Cameras to purchase my K20D.
I was unable to buy locally, and as I wanted a good look at the camera before purchase, it meant driving from Essex To West Sussex

Hello from an inexperience user of a forum, no doubt I will get used to everything here. I love photography, but have much to learn from all you experience ones, so please tell me what wrong on my photo's so that I can correct and learn. I have taken an OU course recently, but quite honestly it wasn't what I expect it to be and hope to take another photographic course soon. I have just bought my first pentax k20d dslr and still trying to get to know it, have taken a few photo's to just how they turned out. Not quite sure what all these other bits and pieces are below this box, but no doubt work it out sometime. Its taken a bit of time to find out how to post these.
First let me welcome you to our forum.
I am a new owner of a K20D, and although the bits and bobs may seem confusing they are really extremely easy to use.
I would suggest that you get the K20D Magic Lantern Guide, as this is very good and is like a more detailed handbook, I got one for christmas, and there is a wealth of info inside.
I also have a Composition book, (another christmas present, I do hope my family are not trying to drop a big hint, Lol, as I don't think my photos are that bad!)
Seriously though we have all got to learn sometime, and the best way is to get out and shoot pictures.
Regards,
Peter.

Thanks for the feedback, I bought a K100D Super late last year for £145, thats brand new with lense, courtesy of Asda price...lol, thought it was a bargain. Its a great camera and was wondering about a 2nd body. Maybe should save up and go for a K20d,
Regards,
Peter.

Bought my K20 from my local seller last week.
He was £20 more expensive than SRS and other online dealers; but then he did spend 30 minutes with me deciding which lens to get, then He filled out the cashback form for me.
Just wondering how many others shop local?
If not, why not?
Dave.

There's no accounting for morons. In truth Pentax have too small a market share for Jessops to bother with, but hey, Jessops won't survive 2009.
Jessops are....
I have only visited Jessops, on 2 occasions, and the staff were :
1.Not knowledgable on the products.
2.Disinterested, and could not care less.
3.Not prepared to "Price Match" a lens even though it was on sale at a cheaper price at another Jessops Branch!

Poor person was brainwashed by his/her manager when Pentax stopped supplying them.

Peter.

I have just bought a pentax k20d, previously had a fuji s9600. I looked through the viewfinder and it seems like it is dirty all quiggly and lines. I used the dust alert and nothing is on it. When I blow the photo's up to 100%, I can just about see them if I look closely enough.I only notice it when I point it to the sky. Any help please, I really don't want to send it back as I will be needing it for a photographic course.
Thanks susan
Welcome to our forum, I think John's advice is about right.
Let us know how you get on please.

Thanks for all your kind comments.
My Dad had been taking pictures with 35mm Pentax cameras for years and after the films were developed the photos would be placed in albums or worse still in boxes which meant they weren't looked at very often!
So this way some of his images can be viewed by more than just family which he would have been really pleased with.

Do you ever get to Duxford, for the "Flying Legends Show?

Peter

I think it comes down to enthusiasm for the product you are selling. Jessops are box shifters and they 'generally' employ at that level. This is reflected in the feel and general service you (don't) get and the sort of stock they will hold. Bottom line is 'generally' you will not find the knowledge (balanced opinion) and enthusiasm for photography at these places.
Thankfully retailers like SRS Microsystems are in a different league
