McBrian, the Dell monitors you refer to (Dell U2415 and Dell U2415H) can only be calibrated using the X-Rite i1 Display Pro colorimiter. They sound like great monitors but buying an i1 Display would add to the cost!

I need a new monitor for my PC. I would like a 32 inch NEC Multisynch but then I would have to give up buying photo ink cartridges and alchohol, both of which seem to be addictive. Suggestions on the cheaper end would be very welcome. I currently have a Dell but it's developed strange patches on either side of the screen so I guess it needs replacing.

Ah the clue is in the mention of Farser's working with William Eggleston. Bill - as he's affectionately known to other snappers like Martin Parr - was probably the main man to bring colour into fine art. His subjects were often banal but he considered this a way of democratising photography. Alhtough many have derided Eggleston's work - Ansel Adams being one of the first - his colour work has been lauded by many. I've seen some of his original dye-transfer prints and the colour certainly has impact (the red ceiling picture particularly). Personally I can't see much point in copying Eggleston. A photographer who has taken colour photographer further and in a more intersting way is Constantine Manos .

Perversely, I'd rather look at pictures of buckets thses days than slow mo seascapes or another sunset on the moors. You don't see many Eggleston copyists but there are far too many Joe Cornish clones about.

Thanks to all. The range of different ideas was very interesting. I now have pk-tether working - it was simply a faulty data cable causing the problem. The software will certainly help me with my current work. I hadn't posted on the forum for some time and was obviously missing out on the expertise so unselfishly given. Thanks again.

Thanks for all the suggestions. To be honest I didn't want to spend much as I have to get a new PC monitor - and we all know how much photo editing monitors cost. I've ordered a new data cable as I think the one I was using might have been faulty. Hope that's the isssue. On the pk tether site some guy has stated that the software works with his K5 so I might post there. Seems tethering support is a weak area for Pentax cameras. It could seriously make me look elsewhere when I next upgrade.

My main reasons for tethering is for a check on my still life and portrait work. Not being able to tether is a serious disadvantage. I see that Nikon and Canon systems are available and to be honest if I had known that my photography was heading into this direction I would have given Pentax a miss when I upgraded my system a few years ago. I hear of pk tether working fine but I just can't get it working with my K5ii

Apologies if I've posted this twice! I'm trying to hook up my K5ii to pk tether. I've tried it on 2 windows 10 PCs and it just freezes the camera. I'm using acable from USB to PC/AV. Any advice would be very gratefully received.
Also is the Eye Fi card worth the money? I want to check composition. lighting and exposure on a laptop. I've read it is a bit slow with RAW which is what I shoot. Also I have Android an not an apple tablet.

Hi, rather I looked at this thread and on the advice I bought a Trigmaster II setup and it's worked really well. Thanks for that! I'd like to get second flash and trigger that from the Trigmaster transmitter as a slave. Can anyone give me advice on what I need to get. I can't see just receivers for sale from Amazon - or I'm not looking properly. I'm very new to flash work and I'm wary about creating a problem.

Traded in my old GX10 yesterday and bought a K5ii at SRS. I haven't even shot a photo yet. I'm poring through the manual trying to set it up like my GX10 - raw, bracketing one stop above and below etc - as that's the way I shoot. Just wondered if anyone has any advice about set up. I know it's individual but I was so used to my old camera that it was like an extension to my arm at times.
