I print on a Canon Pro10S and can confirm it's not a cheap option but you do have control over your work. A calibrated screen is essential but even then prints are not an exact match so trial and error is still needed. I strongly recommend Octoink third party inks. They are mu7ch cheaper and do a good job. Also remember that you cannot leave your printer idle - you will need to make a test print at least twice or three times a week. I use Qimage for this as recommended by Jose Rodriguez. I have settled on a few Fotospeed papers form most jobs though I will explore their range further. I use a Spyder Elite colorimeter for my screen.

Good luck and don't forget to do those nozzle check prints every few days

Many thanks for the suggestions. Thinking about home insurance but with the excess it might be just better trying to pick up a second-hand one. And thanks Peter I'll certainly phone that guy.

My all-round zoom lens DA 16-85mm ED DC WR is damaged. My KP fell off the tripod's quick release and now it won't focus properly. It only goes down to 35mm manually and doesn't work with auto ficus. My local dealer daid it was a broken zoom hood. Contacted John Pye and they said they would have to send it to France or Belgium. That sounds expensive. Di I just consign this to bin? Would be grateful advice or suggestions. Fortunately I have my 35, 50 and 90 primes and a Sigma 10-20. It was a handy lens for travel though.

Cheers
Rod

Hi, hope I can get some help. Image Sync's new version won't connect with my KP. The phone can see the camera but all wifi sources start flashes on and off when wifi is turned on. Then entering the camera code has no effect. I've reinstalled the app but it still doesn't work. The previous version did conenct OK and worked after a fashion.

Many thanks
Rod

Now I'm glad I've posted. Knew about rear curtail sync but never thought about its use. Thanks to all who explained it all.

Now off to show my ignorance on another thread (it's a great way to learn)

Am I reading this correctly? The exposure time was 1/15 and it is pin sharp with no motion blur. Or was the bird stuffed and mounted, snapped and then added to a background in Photoshop. Still, it's a good image even if it's stuffed life not wild life!

Them Canon users op to their tricks again

As was explained in the one of the topics in this thread the Dell U2415 has a 16:10 aspect ratio and the Dell U2415H has a 16:9 ratio. What that means is that the U2415 is more square in shape. The advantage for me wuth the U2415 is that it is more suited for photo editing. I don't edit many photos that are much longer than they are tall if you get what I mean. As for getting a non American monitor theonenadeem I bet the Dell is made outside the US and has components sourced from non US companies. I can't undesratnd why buying non American is important when companies such as Dell have a large non US workforce.

Taking the advice of members on this forum I bought a Dell Ultrasharp 24" - the U2415. Look back in this section and you'll see 2 threads on monitors with their discussions. All I can say is they were right in their recommendations. Very good monitor at a good price

Looks interesting - what is it? I have a Packard Bell combined monitor/computer.
It's an offer of a very good calibrator for monitors and a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud at a very good price.

Brian, I salivate at the prospect! Prayers are currently being issued for my Premium Bonds!

It's a great deal indeed but unfortunately I have to work to a tight budget. I am still looking seriously at a Dell as a purchase to replace my current monitor but Asus have also sprung to my mind as being a possible option. It will be about the best offer I can get on the day
