K3 II is the last "cheap" Pentax for a while, snap em up while you can guys!
I'm in a strange boat myself on this now. I won't pay £1400 for APSC (Fuji X-T2 and my conjectured price for K3 MkIII, slap bang in the middle between Kp and K1). Likewise I won't pay £800 for a body that aint weather sealed (Fuji X-T20), so it's a toss between a heavily discounted K3 II or the Kp, (I won't have a Canikon thrown at me!) if Chris gets any kind of launch deal on the Kp the answer will become clearer as it is probably enough camera for me. if not I may end up saving for a K1 and a new back!
I hate to say this to you guys but you may be getting me back!
Only be for a little while though, eh Mike?
Have you ruled out the K70 which is within this price range?

Samyang lenses seem to come out ok on this thread which is encouraging as I have had the 24mm tilt-shift lens in my sights for a while. Also STIILL awaiting the promised new FF prime lenses before buying any more Pentax, if nothing else they should push prices down on the older versions.

Is the clue in "we climbed for 3.5 hours"? Just maybe at some time earlier the lens was changed or the battery door opened in very warm humid conditions, the humidity then trapped inside the sealed body and condensing internally in the cooler atmosphere.

Being a thread about Nikon, I can't comment on their firmware update policy.
Fuji however released a free update about a year back that was so big they released a new version of the manual too.

Pentax tend to provide compatibility updates for new lenses, and fix any bugs present in features at release date.
After that you need to buy a new camera to get new features, even if they were technically possible on earlier hardware.

Given the grief with the K-30 aperture motor issue also, it didn't feel like they cared much after the sale was made.
Looks like Pentax are taking steps in this direction, the latest K1 firmware update added features like square format and some other clever things.

How about a Manfrotto gimbal head? They pivot 180 degrees in normal position with the camera upside down, so presumably that would be the right way up where you want to put it. Added bonus you then have a good head for long telephotos.

Hi, yes the K50 with the kit lens is a good combination; I was also surprised to discover how good the inexpensive 50mm f1.8 lens is on this body, exceedingly sharp. I especially like your second pic, nicely framed.

Interesting that it is the much-vaunted compact mirrorless market that Nikon have decided to opt out of due to development costs and poor sales projections. Why develop a high end fixed lens range when the market is dominated by other manufacturers with interchangeable lens options? Did they feel obliged to do this because Canon have? Pentax is best keeping clear, and focus on the niche it is excelling at at present.

This was a nice idea that never really took off. I think many people at the time were reluctant to show their locations.
To be honest the info is already on many members' details - real name plus town means addresses can be found in telephone directories or voting register. That plus list of equipment is a handy housebreaker's guide!

Just noticed this is a two-year old thread so well done Steppy for picking up on it. Like many others I didn't know about the map, so should there be a link to it in the Community section? Otherwise it will disappear again into history. Steve Ledger looks a bit lonely in the Southern Hemisphere!

I don't get the menu on an iPad so will need to crank up the desktop later.
