What mock-up primes were those?
Back in February Ricoh exhibited pre-production models of the forthcoming 50mm and 85mm lenses, but it’s all gone very quiet on the lens front since.

I am with you John on waiting for the FF fisheye, but what I could really do with is a range of FF compatible teleconverters. The mock-up primes we saw earlier look too bulky for me, probably the current primes would be preferable.

Impressive, what do you use for focus stacking?

Hey Rob, we must almost be neighbours - I'm 20 minutes from Permajet. It's very convenient. Are you going to the Open Day on 5th November? There are usually some good offers.
Sadly no, I will be away.

A pair of grey partridges were mooching around in my small garden this morning, which is a first. Naturally by the time I fetched the camera they had flown!

I bet the cadets thought they were hallucinating! I particularly like the bracken colour in the second shot and would have been tempted to ask the model to lie in it, but such thoughts are easy in hindsight. Difficult to try lighting techniques and different shooting angles when in a group, but it must have been a very useful experience. Maybe gives you the confidence to try a solo shoot next.

The screen calibrator definitely makes a difference, prints do come out looking like they should. Printing has added a new purpose to my photography, it completes the creative process which beforehand didn’t quite match up to painting. When I take the camera out now I am looking to see what will produce a nice printed image rather than just a digital record on a hard drive or Flickr. Luckily I have two excellent suppliers of photo paper nearby, the PermaJet HQ is just ten minutes away although not good for my bank balance! I am using a smooth matt paper for misty seascapes and the like, and gloss where I want colours and details to really pop.

Ps it is interesting to go through my catalogue of saved images to see which would make prints worthy of display - surprisingly few! A great way to refine your portfolio.

Jak’s comments are well made but then presumably you knew the conditions when you submitted the photo, so I hope your enjoyment at your photo being selected is not diminished. Well done!
