In which case could I suggest that you visit an Apple store?

Good idea if you dont mind paying three times as much for a machine that does nothing more than a standard pc!

I use my laptop for all my editing. I dont think its such an issue nowadays, as its easy to find a large good quality screen on a laptop. My Samsung R610 has a 16" 1080p screen that i find as good as any external screen and better than alot.

Things to check for -
built in card reader,
high res screen,
numberpad (not necessary for editing but damn handy)
As many usb ports as possible.

I did see a laptop somewhere the other day with a built in pen tablet next to the mouse pad but unfortunatley i cant remember the make or where i saw it.

Loxely have some well priced albums. Graphi studio are some of the best but you have to have proof of at something like ten bookings per year before they will sell to you.

Hi,
I may have found a problem with my k10d. If anyone has experience of this or can shed any light on it I would appreciate it.

I have two bodies, one with a count of just over 2000, and one with a count of 500. After taking a few pics on the 2000 count body i take the sd card out and put it in the 500 count body. Take some more pics. The 500 count body carries on the count from 2000 and now whenever i put a fresh formatted card in the 500 count body it always carries on from the 2000 count.

Hope that makes sense !

Am i doing something wrong, can this really happen? If so then the count could be made to read anything you like if you have a body with a suitable count.

So if i want different variations of an image do i have to decide before i start making changes, create a virtual copy, then edit each copy separatley? How does the virtual copy show up in the catalogue?

I find that with 95% of my images I can do all the editing I need in Lightroom and do not need to go into Photoshop. If I do need to use photoshop[/quote]This is why I am trying Lightroom. Having started doing weddings I needed a faster way to edit the hundreds of files I have. Lightroom is doing the trick I just need to accept the fact that I have to use catalogues now. Thats ok, if the original file is left untouched. Thats a useful tip about the virtual copy as I quite often want a colour and b&w version, thanks Kris.

Hi All,

I have just got hold of Adobe Lightroom and was looking fo radvice on how best to use it.
Up until now I have opened raw files in Adobe Raw, made changes, then hold alt and open a copy in elements for further editing and saving to jpeg. I do not use the cataloging feature of elements as I prefer to browse folders.

I dont seem to be able to find a way of working similarly in Lightroom. It appears i have to use catalogues and stacked versions ?

Does anyone know a better way or a way that is similar to my current Elements workflow?

Hi Shanegeach,
I shot a wedding last weekend with a sigma 2.8 18-50 and a pentax 50-135 da*. I cant imagine needing anything longer than the 50-135.

However the pentax lens is expensive but gives great results. I have a tamron 70-300 that i have used for outdoor shots before (not wedding) and its a nice sharp lens.

If this is something you are looking to do more than once then i would really recommend spendng the extra and getting the best glass you can.

I particularly like the way that Kodak papers are barcoded and the printer automatically uses the correct settings.
Thats interesting.

Not many people printing at home, is that due to cost or some other reason? Loxley are getting good comments and Tesco which surprises me.
