What you are seeing is the file names given by the camera to the images which are for some reason dependant on the card.
I believe that Photome can show the actual number of shutter actuations. I've never looked!

Hi,
I may have found a problem with my k10d. If anyone has experience of this or can shed any light on it I would appreciate it.
I have two bodies, one with a count of just over 2000, and one with a count of 500. After taking a few pics on the 2000 count body i take the sd card out and put it in the 500 count body. Take some more pics. The 500 count body carries on the count from 2000 and now whenever i put a fresh formatted card in the 500 count body it always carries on from the 2000 count.
Hope that makes sense !
Am i doing something wrong, can this really happen? If so then the count could be made to read anything you like if you have a body with a suitable count.
If it didn't do that it could overwrite a previous image !!Hi,

It's only the image count on that card, not a camera shutter count !
See PhotoMe for shutter count, as stated above
