Lucky you for living so close to all the people who have all the things you want to buy, when you want to buy them, and having the time and petrol to put into travelling. I'm a little less lucky.
yes you are right i do have the time , one bonus of being retired.
i set criteria, if the item is very heavy or very delicate i prefer to pick up, i set a radius of around a 100 miles,i then wait until what ever i want appears at the right price, if it does not and i get desperate i will go to local dealer who has so far matched srs for price as far as camera kit is concerned, ebay small/cheap items buy on trust, exopensive/large/deicate items i collect.i set my search criteria according to what i am after

I would not buy from some one who cannot be bothered to at least post a photo of the item, and why post a stock photo, on a photography forum this has to be the hight of laziness. If they cannot be bothered to do this can they be bothered to post the item you have paid for.I have bought quite a few items on the forum and 99% have been great but the 1% sticks in my mind all he had to do was post the item but still had to remind him to do this.If i sell some thing i make it my no1 priority to get it sent as soon as possible this is the way it should be and most of the folks selling on here think the same way.
i agree with you on the postage thing no excuse for that. i would be more suspicious of some body not wanting to meet than not posting a photograph though
as for the photo it is the method of posting, not being lazy, i personally do not want a flicker or photobucket account for any reason.
end of the day i suppose it is whatever suits the individuals at the time

it,s not worth travelling for any thing under £50 unless it is under 10 miles, i would buy on trust.
your other point about mis represented items ,i learned from my mistakes a long time ago you have to talk to people and make sure you ask all the right questions,on here that would be pm to obtain and give phone numbers to comminicate. so no i do not travel without fair amount of communcation first. been doing it a some time now and have not had a problem , maybe just lucky

i try to meet face to face especially with high value items then it does not matter how long they have been a member, quite happy to wait until that can happen. for small items i would trust a forum member but if it went wrong the forum would soon know

that poll is a waste of time, a photo only proves an item exists, might not be the one that you get though ( just to add to the paranoia )and if it is when did the photo prove the item worked.

may have a gap to fill in the 35-70/80 range with a zoom so which is best or are they all about the same
A 35-70mm f3.5-4.5
F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5
A 35-70mm f4 manual focus
FA 35-80mm f4-5.6
or is there something else, don,t want to spend a fortune may not get used all that much.
