What's wrong?

Can someone tell me why for the past number of days most of the topic appear 'Read' to me when clearly I have not read them? This is not the case with all the threads but the majority certainly appear like that (i.e. not bold). Your help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

So there must be something wrong with my account. Maybe John will be able to shed some light.

There's nothing wrong that I can see. Maybe it was a server glitch. There have been some upgrades done recently so there might have been some temporary problems.

If it continues, then please put full details in a report.
Best regards, John

Unfortunately it's the way the forum is designed, it doesn't work like almost every other forum on the web does. Have been complaining about this since the forum was 'updated' many years ago but my complaints have never been acted upon.

It's the main reason why I don't spend anywhere near as much time on this forum as I used to, and when I do visit it is always logged out as I find it easier to keep upto date. As much as I hope they would fix this it is plainly obvious that it will never be sorted.

The way forward is to file a report if there's a technical issue.

And yet again, as I tell you every time this issue crops up, I have already done that. More than once. Years ago.

The way forward, is that when a blatantly obvious design fault is brought up and reported by the users time and time and time again, that was working perfectly fine before the forum redesign, is to fix it.

Why do you continue to suggest that I report an issue that I have reported several times (that I have told you that I have done, several times) that just never gets acted on?

The last time I did this you decided to PM (and delete my post) telling me I was rude to act this way, personally I find it rude that you just cannot and will not understand that I have done what you have suggested several times and yet you continue to constantly suggest the same course of action that just DOES NOT WORK.

This forum has lost users in the past purely because of this basic functionality not working correctly and will continue to do so until it is fixed. I will continue to point this out EVERY time someone complains about it and I'm sure that you will continue to give me the same response every time John as you seem to do without fail.

It will be repeated again 'I have filed a report, more than once and it has never been acted upon'. This is even after lengthy PM conversations with support that have ended up in failure getting this issue fixed.

Until you can accept that this is the way the forum is designed John, we will continue to have this argument every time someone else brings it up. If you do not want me complaining about this issue then either please just use your obvious influence and get it fixed, or stop me from complaining about it.

@ Unlocker, Unfortunately you just have to accept the fact that this site does not action user reports. NIH? Don't know. But I filed a major security report here months and months ago. The fix is trivial - if I had access to the source I could have fixed it quicker than writing the bug report! Has it been done? No. And it is literally just a single if statement, and is already present in the same module, so only needs to be copied. As I said trivial.

Reports are taken up by the relevant department and actioned as they see fit after discussion. In the case of the changes that Unlocker wants, there are also a lot of people who don't want it, so that has to be weighed up. It is possible to offer an option on the point, but it would need some work that there hasn't been the opportunity for yet. It is known and has been noted.

I was actually replying to NaimKhan by the way, and wasn't referring to unlocker's post when I said file a report.

This site does action user reports layingback, but the times it happens almost instantly seem to get overlooked very quickly. I suppose it's natural, because once those problems are solved then they no longer are an issue and are dismissed from our minds.
Best regards, John
