Looks like the stock is coming in..."Only 1 left in stock (more on the way)"...so hopefully we will have a few bodies etc to try out (& possibly buy!) on the open day!
Should've written sooner!

I am waiting to hear back from Pentax, but we should at least have the K-5 II, K-5 IIs and the Q10....
Don't know why Pentax are taking so long...these were "Expected Early October"...
At the end of the month, Chris is calling Pentax to check availability, no one has any stock to try out, and Amazon is showing "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months"

Clearly, Pentax don't seem to be in any rush for the camera to reach the shops or in the hands of potential customers...

Anyway, hope Chris is back with some info, and that the cameras hit the shelves soon!

OK! That's a lot of information!
Thanks a lot friends, forum members for all this information!
I guess I should be ready for an upgrade - will wait for a good deal to come by!

I have seen results from the Foveon sensor, and I did like them, the colours were really nice - I think I saw it on DP1x/ DP2s

However, the camera I saw was slow at writing, & it was quite expensive - about £400/500?

Both these were put offs, but I have to say, it was a quality, well built camera with great results.

Sadly, so are many others, & nice as they may be these will struggle against "established" competition...
I think we Pentaxians are a happy & lucky lot, to have good, pro-quality camera-bodies & glass at great prices- a happy "medium"!

Folks,

Like many, I too have "bin thinking" about upgrading from my K10D to a new K5...

I'd like to find out if anybody has checked out the K10Ds 22Bit A/D Conversion vs K5's 14 bit, apparently this was the highest from any camera at the time, and produced rich tonal gradations, offered great highlights etc... (?!)

The K10D's CCD - is it better for daylight use vs the K5's CMOS, which is better for low light ones?

Comments, experiences about this & any advice highly appreciated!

Regards

Ravi.

With the K-x, Pentax continues to do well!
OK, a drop in price, but it has to be a good camera to reach the No 2 spot!

Wonder what "Stormtrooper round-up" means?
US$ 464!! That's about GBP 310! Why don't Pentax & SRS run such promos here in UK?

Dear Ken,
Thanks for the reply. I will check that first.
I will also visit SRS: a) to show them the results, and to try Metz58 / Pentax 540 flashguns to see if I get any better results.

I had a dead pixel on my Olympus soon after purchase...it was disappointing, but as I had bought it from an overseas duty free, I could not have sent it for replacement/ return! Now I don't even notice it!
Yes, the Panasonic cards r BRILLIANT, I think SRS do them, I got mine from there. Not as heavily marketed as Sandisk, but just as good, I've had absolutely no problems.

Dear Matt, John, Ken, friends...I had started another post about Underexposure, but this one seems to be the "Hot" one... could I just continue here? I have posted some images here:
http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/ravimat/K10D1650Underexposure?authkey=Gv1sRgCOOxsc...

For the first 3 pics, the consensus was, that the silver car has led to the underexposure. I added the next two, which are Spot Metered.
The 6th image was taken at a local event, that's underexposed too!

Images 8,9 & 10 are daylight photos: w/out Flash+ Spot / with flash + Spot, & Centre Weighted Flash.

I would like to find out if this is a metering issue?
