I bought a slave flash, & have tried it, but it gives very underexposed results...
I have seen the video on how to use it, should be straightforward, but haven't been able to get it right

Also, at a wedding, I used the 16-50 with K10D's built in flash, & got some very underexposed results...
I emailed the results to SRS, they were helpful & have offered to look at the camera's metering, but back at home, I got no problems! Must've been the strobe lighting at the wedding that "threw" the metering
OR,
I was too quick on the button!!

Anybody with slave flash experience, please help!

I too am new to the forum, and have the same question about which flash to buy for me K10D!
I was ALL for the AF-540FGZ, had I not read some reviews about problems with zoom sticking etc- lots of issues reported on Amazon :

I am a novice by PU standards, have recently bought a Pentax Slave Flash recently, still experimenting and trying to figure out how to use it to good advantage- in theory, it should give me interesting results, but..well still trying!

There were also similar concerns(QA issues & reviews) about the DA* 16-50, but that was so high up on my list, and the people at SRS were very helpful on the Pentax Open day, that I ended up buying the lens, and I am happy with it.

The post has come at a good time, as the flash & a good camera bag is next on me list, (as is the DA*50-135!! sigh- someday, I will have them all!!)

I'm Ravi, and live in Redditch, W.Mids (not really on the coast, that's just what a friend jokingly used to call it!)
I have been taking pictures since the 80s, when I got my dad's Agfa Isolette III. Used to "read" the exposure settings from film roll cartons at the time !
Moved on to a no-name automatic, I think it may even have been a fixed focus!! Those days, even a Zenit used to feel expensive! (Not saying the Zenits were bad, I think they produced some spectacular images, they were just nowhere near as expensive as Pentax/Canons/Nikons...
My first Pentax was the Zoom 105R, which I bought after soaking up all the best buy reviews, I felt PROUD to own it, specially when a photolab asked which camera did I have- he was impressed by the "negative density" ! (I thought that meant the exposure was spot on).
My 1st SLR was a Minolta Dynax 500si Super, which again I really liked.
1st Digital : Olympus C5050Z.
Last year, I decided to swap my Dynax for a digital SLR. The contenders were Nikon D40, and Pentax K100D Super. Nearly went for the Nikon, until I read all the RAVE reviews for the Pentaxs (Is that the plural for Pentax?)
With the K20D "on the horizon", the K10D prices were tumbling. I took the plunge, and am the proud, though still "shaky" owner of the K10D now! (Shaky, because, having used the Dynax & the Olympus, I got so used to the scene modes, getting back to Av, Tv, Sv took a while!)
