Thanks Guys

There could be something in the longer end of the sigma being softer then the shorter end. I'm still trying shots both with and without SR but at the football game last Sunday the weather was also rainy so that didnt help with the sharpness of the longer range zoomed in shots!

All my shots with the DA* 50-135 were hand held and all were sharper than the sigma. But then there are a few hundred pounds of optic value seperating the two lenses!

Appreciate the comments about looking for camera shake at a pixel level.

All the best

Geoff

Thanks guys, I used SR all last winter but still feel that my results with the sigma 70-300 are soft. It is hard to be scientific because there are so mnay variables -so i value the experiences of others.

Cheers, Geoff

Hi Guys

I know to turn off the SR on my K10 when it's sitting on three legs. What do folk suggest for monopods (telephoto zoom at sporting events) - SR on or off?

I ask this because I picked up on one thread that SR can lead to slight blurring if its not needed.

Hi All

Well one unbiassed review has rated the KM as being "simply superb value for money". IQ as good as Nikon D5000 -which for various other reasons was said to have walked away with their award. And there was me thinking image quality and value were the top priorities...followed by good handling.

I wonder what they'd say about the KX?

Hi Ian

I have the Sigma 70-300 and agree about it being soft at the longer end. I dont do much macro work tho I can see the advantages of a longer lens in terms of not being right on top of the subject.

I have a friend who has the tamron which goes on a KM body -seems to give good results but as yet I've not tried it on my K10 for action work.

My main use is sports and now wish I had two camera bodies.

I'd love to move up to the K20 if I could convince myself that I wouldnt them want the K30 or whatever the next one will be. The K7 is just too expensive.

Good luck with your quest
Geoff

Hi Ian

I'll definately do that. It would be great to find a local business so PaperSpectrum will shortly be typed into my browser.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Its always great to benefit from experience and not to have to re-invent the wheel.

Happy shooting all

Amazing, while reading you reply an ad for "Point 101" came up, seems they are a supplier of treated cotton canvas rolls suitable for inkjet printers.

Anyone used this material for direct inkjet printing?

All I now need is a supply of the canvas frames....wonder if an ad will pop up for those now?

Cheers all

Hello Everyone

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier of a good variety of photo printing papers please?

My main printer is an Epson R1800 which will take up to A3+ paper and also roll feed.

I would like to try to print "canvas" type papers with a view to framing or even wrapping over a frame.

Many thanks for any suggestions
Geoff

Hi Guys
Some weeks ago I got sound advice concening the limitations of a Jessops 360AFD gun on my K10.

Well because often I need flash for almost spontaneous shots I decided that I did really need a PTTL gun. SRS again excelled with a next day delivery and am I now the proud owner of a Metz 48.(Pentax dedicated)

First shots including all sorts of odd bounce angles have been superbly exposed and I now look forward to swatting up from Mattmatics guides and elsewhere so that I might be able to use the new gun more creatively.

I can see that with lenses like the DA 17-70 I am going to have to restrict just how much I can use the camera's own flip up gun (because of shadows from the lens) for those occasions where I'd like to have the Metz off camera but controlled wirelessly. This is all new to me!

Once again a mega plaudit to SRS for their fantastic service and the other forum members who post such helpful comments to guide those of us with less experience.

Cheers, Geoff
