True, but it's the non-photography things that you have to do to get the right jobs in the first place.
Photography is much more fun (I think) when you don't have to make a living from it (and in that respect it is not different from any other hobbies that would allow you to go pro).

Interesting article, Ben. And it does show us amateurs why it is nice to be an amateur. As everywhere politics rules and it is all this doing homework, finding out who to talk to etc. etc. that would wear me down.

As an amateur I can pick up my camera and go shooting when I feel like it. (Unless the day job is getting in the way of it, of course.)

Creativity is much easier if it doesn't have to happen "on demand".

Goes to show what a smart fellow he is! I'm sure he will be missed...

Well, it seems that Ken was a bit quicker. Here's my suggestion:

You can get that in post processing as well. In Photoshop, get a new gradient layer with a radial gradient from white to transparent. You can drag the centre with the mouse in the image. If layer mode "normal" is too harsh then try either "overlay" or "hard light" and adjust the opacity.

Of course it is not as good as real haze as the effect doesn't know anything about how far away from the camera different parts of the image were.

Goes to show how overpowered modern cars are. My 10-years old SLK is no exception...

I'm led to believe all of the Mercedes MB-Trac ones, for example...

I also think it is a fine picture. I would leave the house in.
I would work on the reflection of the sky, though, as after working on the sky the reflection now is much lighter than the sky itself.
Also there is a slight halo around some of the timbers.
