That could be an expensive one, if you have to stay in the Four Seasons...

Reduced lens noise
What's that? Technoblurb speaking technoblurb?
And wouldn't we have expected Mike-P to suffer from it, given all the lenses he possesses?

Too many questions...

I have on a very few occasions, so not regularly. So maybe somewhere between Former and Prosumer...

Here's an afterthought: Perhaps I should enter this in the hobbies competition

Ok, this would have been my entry to the competition, would I see myself able to handle the next round:

Yes, I have used some PP on this, just to underline the effect. It's all done from one shot, though. Just for proof, here it is:

For the real thing I might have done another set-up in the corridor to be able to use 300 mm, this was taken at 170 mm. f/27 was the smallest aperture I have on the 70-300, as you can see the DOF wasn't quite enough, although with hindsight I quite like the effect of the two blurry bottles on the sides...

Have to go to another meeting on Sunday week. So I guess I have to sit this one out...

Have thought about a setup or two, might do one outside the competition.

I think Mhuni's "health warning" is not too harsh. It should be clear to everyone entering that they would need to judge the next competition (i.e. also comment on the entries). I only enter when I know that I can make the time in the next week (or when I'm convinced that I won't win, which can backfire ).

As has been said before, the comments on the entries are what makes this a worthwhile effort. Without the comments it wouldn't be the same...

Aaaah, lovely work, Tim!
Blinds are very nice for abstracts because of their regular patterns. The single blades on this one have a nice structure on top of that, so very nice.
I think I prefer the first two, although I appreciate that the light pattern on the wall should really get me excited. Alas, it doesn't, intriguing as it is.
Just saw Mike's comment and it also seems not to ring his bell...

Nope, that is not the reason. There might be some static charging of the sensor but it will be shielded by the shutter.
I'm with Ian in thinking it is to protect the electronics during the lens change. Lenses and the camera bajonet have electronic contacts that might be shortened in a way not too healthy for the electronics. I did the odd change when I had forgotten to turn off the camera and nothing happened. But better be safe than sorry.

Yes, they are great. First one shows how the mood changes with PP, good example.
The second one I imagine was very tricky to shoot (especially without tripod). I think it asks for tripod, multiple exposures and stacking them together in PP. A slightly over the top HDR should also work well here.
