I found another on-line 'camera club' site which allows it; PhotoGalaxy.com. There is a 'photohosting' box which comes up when you want to add pics saved in your computer and I found you have to 'upload' then click on the BB Forum technical words, they go blue, then you press 'copy', then you minimise that box and press 'paste' into the Pentax new topic box and all the computer-speak words appear as if by magic, then when you press 'preview' the picture appears with your caption. ( You have to run the Pentax forum at the SAME TIME as you are running the PhotoHosting box.)

Thanks for all your help, Pentaxers ! Well, I HAVE a 9 year old daughter and a 7 year old son (Yes, the Old Film Bloke started another family late in life - I'm OLDER than all the teachers and Headmistress ! ) . The daughter knows how to work her Mum's mobile phone and this 'Time' computer so she should know about USB places; there seems to be NO socket on the front but there are two slots at the back where my film/print scanner and the modem thing plugs in.
Daniel: The 'software' I use was supplied by the Yellow Advertiser newspaper at Basildon so I could 'upload images' to them from Brentwood. ( See, I'm getting all the digital lingo now - before I used to go there with real PRINTS ! ) They gave me PhotoShop 7 and FotoStation, a programme which enables me to caption prints ( sorry, IMAGES),and the caption comes up on the bottom line of their computer.

What's gone wrong with me ? Talking about digitalcameras now !!
ANYWAY, I just had a look at the Jessops site, found the K10D and it says it supports windows XP, 2000 or something when I have Windows Millenium on this computer: does it mean if I get the K10D I cannot put any pics ( 'Images' as they seem to be called now ) into the blessed computer so I can work on them as I do on my beloved FILM scans ?

My kids had this Advent Calender: I thought it would make an interesting shot for my 6x7; I put camera on my copy stand, 105mm lens with extension tube, lit it with one Bowens Monolite 400 and card reflector so I got a little 3D effect, outdated (2002) Fuji NPC 160 film. I put a 12x16" RA4 print into the club monthly print comp last Friday; the judge commented it would have been nice to have ONE REMAINING chocolate in a hole - Too LATE MATE ! - the kids ATE them all !

Daniel: The first win was for the Thames Chase/ Forestry Commission Comp. I got 1st ,2nd and 3rd in the 'Camera Clubs' section ( only because only ONE other person entered !) and the Forest Ranger said he was not going to award me with all the prizes ( 1st was a Champagne Flight for four on the London Eye) so he said I could have the 3rd prize of £25 Jessops Vouchers and he would also give £25 vouchers to the other entrant ! The £200 was on the Essex 'Safety Camera Partnership' comp. I got 2nd award;someone from Colchester got the £500 vouchers 1st award. My pic was a print of a death crash site with a car speeding past and some flowers laid out at the scene. The story was that a bloke was speeding along to see what had happened to his brother who had been arrested for GBH by Brentwood Police, and the brother had been drinking ! It happened around 0130 hrs.

Getting all EXCITED now ! Thanks all for your words of wisdom - I never really thought to change from Pentax for my main system or I could never call myself 'Pentax Pete' again. I haven't GOT the £200 yet until next Thursday award presentations in Chelmsford. Daniel: yes, the epicentre WAS here in The Vale, BRENTWOOD !

I won some Jessops vouchers in two comps. value £225 total; looking to buy the K10D: shall I get Body only and use all my lovely screw and K bayonet lenses or shall I get a dedicated lens; if so which one to start out? Is the 'kit' lens OK or I read the 16-45mm f4 is sharper. Also, I read that there is no standard flash socket for the K10D - how do I plug in my Bowens studio flash, with an adapter on the 'hot-shoe'? The Yellow Advertiser Chief Photographer was here yesterday and although the newspaper GAVE him a Nikon D2H to use he said I should seriously think about going CANON if I take the plunge at last ! Also, I am scared about reading on this Forum about 'Firmware'-never heard of it ! Don't know what it does ! Or should I just buy some more outdated FILM with my winnnings? !!!!!

Oh Dear : Just read this about the K10D flash compatiblity. I have many flash guns (some bought, mostly given ) including a Metz 45CL3 for which I have the little box that goes on the hot-shoe and will give TTL flash metering with my LX. Does it NOT work then with the K10D in TTL mode? I also have Multiblitz and Bowens Monolite studio flashes; if I do connect them with a hot-shoe adapter is the voltage SAFE to use with the K10D? It all seems so much simpler to use my FILM cameras that work with everything !!! ME Super, MX, LX, P30, Spotmatic, SV -------NO TROUBLE !!
