I will probably regret this, but I have decided to sell my FA31 Limited lens.

It's a great lens that probably has just about the best reputation amongst all Pentax lenses. Unfortunately it just isn't getting enough use since I acquired it.

Silver, Made in Japan. Good condition, clean and in perfect working order.

Asking price is £725 including UK delivery.

+1 for a move to macs. I got fed up with buying a windows based flying machine, only for it to grind to a snails pace after a few months.

Unfortunately you can't get one for £500. However once you have one you wont need to replace it for many years.
+ another for the Mac - I got fed up with various windows issues such as crawling to a snails pace after multiple updates, driver issues etc.

Moved to Macs 7 years ago, and have only just felt the need to upgrade . . . . . . . although my 6 year old macbook is still perfectly useable, and the 7 year old iMac is still quite happily in service - and both as fast and trouble free as the day I bought them. Yes, they are more expensive initially, but for me they have been cheaper in the long term

The only issue I've ever had with SR is with panning shots, where the SR doesn't have chance to stabilise. Apart from those types of shots, I leave it on all the time.

As others have commented, a back pack is the best solution for the camera and lenses, but potentially the worst solution for you in the event of a spill.
If I have to take my DSLR kit I normally resort to the car. If I must take it on the bike then it goes in the top box with lots of padding to absorb any vibration. Rightly or wrongly I'm more concerned about the effects of vibration on my zoom lenses than the camera body or prime lenses (less weight/moving parts). The downside is less storage space for any overnight kit!
My main solution for the bike was to get a large sensor compact camera with a built in zoom lens. Much smaller to carry on the bike, less costly so not such a great loss if it gets damaged, and still capable of better images with the larger sensor.

I was talking with SRS yesterday and was told it is Pentax who have put up their prices, so undoubtedly this will soon filter through to other suppliers once they have used up any old stock

The 60-250 for example has gone up by 20%
If memory serves correctly the 300 has gone up £100, the 200 by £80, the 50-135 by £100.
I'm not sure about others, but several seem to have had a significant increase.

I see that Pentax are increasing their prices. If you're thinking of getting a new lens it may be time to start shopping around now . . . . .

I looked at the Sony Nexus, the screen seems to be a big bigger. I asked the sales assistant a few questions about it. He said not to put a virus protection on as this would slow it down, is this true please?
You will need virus protection on an android machine, not required for iPad as all software is installed through the app store, so already checked.
Agreed - the nature of ios and the closed system that Apple operate for software does mean that there are no viruses (that I am aware of) that affect ios. But even if it can't do anything on ios an virus infected file can still be passed on to another machine.

Malware can still exist on ios and run with human intervention, eg running an unexpected attachment on an email, even if it comes from a known source. How much harm that could do is anybody's guess, so just don't open unexpected/unsolicited attachments etc. and you should be pretty safe.

Apple have a pretty good record so far as far as viruses are concerned, and where there have been occasional issues I believe it's been where users have initiated and given permission for something to run rather than something the operating system allows to run unbeknown to the user. Android has been designed as a much more open system which does make it more vulnerable.

That said, due diligence is needed whatever system you are using!
