I think these are excellent, well done. And something a bit different, which is always nice to see. When I shoot through plane windows they always seem to be well scratched, was it a new aircraft?

Using basically the same sensor, I'm not sure that either of the K5 II's would get you any better performance.

Cheers

My main PC is a windows 7/64 machine with an Intel I5 quad core processor and 6GB of RAM. It runs Lightroom 4 / 64 bit version just fine. A good (calibrated) monitor is a must, and of course some backed up storage for all those images. I am however developing an unhealthy interest in a 120GB solid state drive for the operating system. And based on Smeggy's point, maybe I need more RAM!

I'm with defragged and smeggy, you would be better off on a 64 bit OS (preferably Win 7 unless you really like the look of Win but the 4GB RAM limitation of your current motherboard is an issue and a motherboard upgrade does seem favourite.

Brilliant. Eyes super sharp but wingtips blurred to remind us this is in motion. Top shot.

As an alternative solution I have a Lowepro TLZ mini (which will just hold the camera with lens fitted) and a Lowepro lens case or two, which I can clip to the shoulder strap using the Lowepro attachment system. Secure and flexible (but not waterproof).

And another great thing about using a short tele for panos is that if you use it wide open you can make bokeh panoramas, which are very cool.

Low battery as in this thread -
http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/94026-k10d-back-displa...
This has references to the problem being caused by a defective memory card, or the memory card door not properly shut -
http://www.fixya.com/support/t209535-pentax_k10d_both_lcd_screens_blank

Ehow says - "lso, some people experienced their camera freezing up after a lens change or a memory-card replacement, and had to send their camera back to Pentax for repair."

Sounds like you have tried most of the above. Memory card door closed?

Good luck, hope you get it sorted.

Are you likely to shoot nighttime skies, moonlit landscapes, landscapes after sunset or before sunrise? Or use a 10 stop ND grad to blur moving water, clouds or vegetation? Or do you want to squeeze every last pixel of sharpness out of your lenses for that A2 enlargement you know you'll need? If so, that Manfrotto 190 will suddenly become indispensible, 'cos you can't do that with a monopod! If no, then leave it or go for one of the lighter options.
Good luck, seems like an awesome place to visit, look forward to seeing the images!

Hi Tim
I like all of these but Storm over Hope Valley (because of the backlit cement works) and Cave Dale 1 (because of the atmosphere - I have a thing for bare trees!) are my faves.

Many thanks to Andrew for arranging this day out, and great to meet everyone. Most enjoyable day, conditions were a bit bracing. Lovely transient light on the way up Mam Tor after the hailstorm passed!
