I've got one of these and it's fabulous. If you're wondering whether to get one, read -

Got a manfrotto 190 in aluminium and love it. Tried the 3 way magnesium head and it was OK but now settled on their mini ball head which suits me well. QR plates are definitely the way forward. CF tripod would be lovely if I ever decide I can justify the cost.

Worrying article. Just finished emailing the ICO and just finishing letter to my MP. Think I'll also write to Mandelson personally.

I love my DA35mm limited. I also found a very old K series 55mm f1.8 which I rescued from my father in laws shed and is rather nice.
Currently trying to make up my mind about next purchase - DA70 or FA77. Very tricky....

Interested in this because I plan to do the same trip later this year. Already been to Ballycastle twice but not done the whole coast trip. Two thoughts -
1. The weather can be dire. If you can be flexible, booking at the last minute when the forecast is good may be safer - but don't know if this would work for you?
2. Although not strictly on the coast, the "dark hedges" are not far away. You may already know about them, but well worth a google to look them up if not - consider a small diversion?

Have a great trip.

I built a haig mount, which having built, I am ashamed to say I have used very little. Did use father in laws driven telescope for some 15min guided exposures which was very cool.

I shoot in RAW, develop in Lightroom and keep the RAWs + sidecar files on a couple of external hard drives. Don't use PS much since I got Lightroom.

Printing I either do myself on an Epson 1290 or for larger than A3 I've used Peak Imaging in Sheffield, which I'm very pleased with.

I've just bought an NEC spectraview LCD which I calibrate with an X Rite and I'm very pleased with that.

Hi - just joined. I'm a long time pentax SLR user, currently have a couple of film bodies which don't get use and a K200d which gets lots. Various zooms but recently acquired a DA35 Limited which seems to have permanently attached itself to the camera body.

Cheers
