Thanks for all the replies and input everyone.
Why the tripod - I'm on a "best image quality I can possibly get" phase at the moment, hence the limited primes, plus I hope to do some low light work, so it comes.
Is it a photo holiday or a holiday on which I take pics? Depends if you ask me or my wife..
Do I find primes restrictive? - not at all, I'm with mikew - make you walk around and think more.
Stefan thinks I'm missing a few from my limited collection, he may have a point!
If I get anything decent I'll post a few in the gallery when I get back.
Cheers all.

I'm off to Italy next week (Amalfi coast) with my wife for a weeks holiday. I've pretty well decided to travel very light and just take the K200D body and 2 primes. I shoot mostly landscapes and I will take a tripod, ND filters and remote release. Other than that I'm just taking the 35mm DA Limited and the 77mm Limited. I'll use a Lowe DSLR case with a lens case clipped on.

All the zooms (16-45, 24-90 and a sigma 70-300) and the 55mm K and 135 M primes are staying at home. If I want wider than the 35 I'll stitch a panorama. I just find taking the backpack around a faff.

Now getting slight niggles. If I miss ONE lens, which would it be?

Oh - and anyone know if Manfrotto tripods are any cheaper in Italy - they make them there

I have a Lowe AW mini backpack which is great. But TBH I've found I like travelling light, so moving to Lowepro SLR bag with a spare Lowe 1M lens case and a small pack for filters clipped to the strap. Less is more...

Hi & welcome. Only recently joined myself, found this to be a very friendly and helpful place. Being able to use old glass is great isn't it?

I've not been a member long, but I've decided I like this site! I spotted "bretbysteves" thread about lots of lenses for sale at ffordes. They now have one less 77mm 1.8 for sale than they had at the start of today. Arrives tomorrow. In black. Mint condition.

Thanks all (and especially Steve! - would have missed that without your post)

Thanks for all the input guys. The photozone review did help in that they also reviewed the 77 and the 77 has better bokeh than the 70 judging from the photozone test shots.

Hmmm....need to mull over a little more...

I have a K200D. I shoot mainly landscapes. I have Pentax 16-45, 24-90 and a Sigma 70-300. However I recently bought a 35mm macro limited which blows all the zooms into the weeds, and am now considering my second limited prime. I think I'd use a short tele. So - 70mm DA or 77 mm FA - that is the question... Is the 77mm worth the extra? Input and advice from owners of either or both much appreciated! 77 has allegedly slower AF speed which probably won't bother me. 70mm is smaller and lighter and has quickshift focus which I like on the 35mm. Oh dear..

I have a lowepro trekker AW - 2 shoulder straps, chest strap and waist strap, so a very stable carry on a bike. Also mesh back, handy as I guess you may get warm! And an integral waterproof cover for when the weather decides not to cooperate..

Lovely shots. I'm off to the in-laws this weekend at berwick on tweed, so 40 miles or so south of aberlady. The skies on that stretch of coast are always fantastic - a real feeling of space. Hoping for some good conditions.
