Definitely desktop. Recently upgraded ours. Intel i5/750 quad core with6GB RAM, windows 7/64 bit. Runs Lightroom 3 impressively fast, especially with those big stitched panos I'm getting into.

Sadly no drivers available for our loved but venerable Epson 3200 scanner, so we've had to keep the old XP desktop for scans.

Oh - and having read the T shirt banter above - I did have the full complement of fleece, waterproof top and pants, gaiters, hat and gloves. The fact that I was well prepared naturally guaranteed fine weather....

As promised some feedback from the Friday session. Turned up to find a very lightly attended session, there were 2 people on the AM session and 3 on the PM session. The weather was glorious. T shirts in the middle of the day. Two instructors with very differing styles (Bill Birkett in AM and Tommy Martin in PM), a strenuous day wandering over fell and dale, a lot of helpful advice, some preconceptions challenged, very glad I went.

I was most impressed with how Tommy Martin managed to organise not only a spectacular sunset for us to photograph, but also some low lying mist and a couple of swans in the lake. How did he do that?

Many thanks to Dave M for pointing me in the direction of this, I would have missed it otherwise. Dave, you were attending today so looking forward to hearing your feedback. Hope you had as good a day as I did!

I'm booked on the Friday session (couldn't sync diaries with Dave) so will report from that one also. I think Dave may be getting the slightly better weather - and a better instructor ratio.
This is the launch for a new outdoors and sports photog group so it will be interesting to see how it progresses.
I'm not being led around by Al Hinkes, so here's hoping the fitness challenges are somewhat more manageable!

Still use a Nikon 8400 which I bought in 2004. 8mp, photosites not too tiny, 24-90 equiv zoom and built like a tank (which is important since it goes climbing with me). I'd like something a little smaller and lighter but as my eyes get worse with age I need a viewfinder with dioptre correction. Which not many do, other than the Canon G10/11 which I've played with but don't rate as enough of an improvement to bother splashing the cash.

And seemingly no support for additional Pentax lenses - though ACR6.3 does seem to offer an option to import lens profiles that others have created.

Getting heavily into stitched panos these days. I use my two limiteds this way - a 35mm DA macro and a 77mm FA.
The 16-45 doesn't see much use!
