You shouldn't ask that on an UK forum the price of the DA 12-24 has gone up quite a lot in the UK.
You will probably find it cheaper in Italy

Someone mentioned that Jacobs were selling them at £399 at the NEC. Worth checking out?

And Fforbes have one second hand.

He's living in Rome you know. I know that all roads lead to Rome but I don't think he will walk those roads to London to buy a lens.

Jacobs also has the Samsung version at 549.99 (10 days delivery).

Thank you all for the suggestions. And I know that this lens is not so cheap, but I had to try !
The last one that passed on our Italian forum was sold for 530,00€ ... not bad I would say.
Then I got one for 480,00 but it's showing mechanical problems (front lens is moving too much, almost one mm. A couple of technicians told me that internal plastic guides are probably broken due to an impact too bad !)
So here I am looking also in your forum for a good bargain

I can see there's a 12-24 on Pentaxforums, from Australia. What's your experience with customs ?
Here in Italy it's a pain, so, even if the cost of the lens could be reasonable, I think it's a "dangerous" shipment for me.
Do you have the same kind of problem with customs ? Very long delay and extra money to pay ? Usually we have to add an extra 30% to cover import taxes and customs duty (on shipment too ! :evil

If it's painless for you, I could consider UK as a intermediate transition point

You should take the flight to UK I think, I don't think shipment from Australia to the UK and then to Italy will be cheaper.

The best price I can give you is €829 link
And shipping isn't taxed between countries of the EU so you only pay shipping cost, nothing more.
But I haven't hear a lot of good things about the post service in Italy

A bit off topic, but I don't think I'll ever get over the price of that lens. It's got a very, very solid reputation, but the price? Geez.

Over here in Switzerland, it's over 1400 francs, which is about 870£!
More expensive than either the DA*16-50 or 50-135, which are DA*, and to me, crazy expensive as well.

Well a bit north of you it's 1200 Swiss francs, still quite a lot though.
Just a year ago it costed quite a bit less... I've no idea why this lens have gotten so expensive.
