OK, so there are arguments for and against RAW, and JPG, but if I want both RAW (DNG) to JPG formats would I be better saving "in camera" both formats or converting from RAW to JPG in batch mode in computer?

I have just run a batch conversion using Photoshop and note that the resultant files are bigger if converted in computer, but does that mean better?

There seem to be a lot of votes for Silkypix. Would that be an even better approach for batch conversion.

I am feeling that given the limitations of JPG, it probably does not matter which approach I take.

Well, its back to the drawing board for me, too. I was waiting for the release of the D7460 before buying one since this is the only printer that fits my requirement (cheap and network ready) as a basic colour printer and emergency photo printer.

I wonder how many sales this policy will cost them?

I feel a letter to the MD coming on - not that it would make much difference - but if lots of people wrote in (regardless of whether or not you want HP) then it might have some effect.

Thanks

The HP model is no longer available - according to HP, but I will watch the Brother situation

What has happened to network ready printers? Last year they seemed to be fairly easy to find - both Canon and HP did one, but now they seem to be out of fashion which is a bit strange since home networks have been increasingly very popular.

The solution now seems to be to get some highly priced USB-Network adapter to connect a USB printer, but I suspect that a more cost effective solution would be to get NAS with a USB output.

Any suggestions - polite of course - welcome

General observations are that it's pretty damn small (a little bit too much, in my opinion), feels very well put together, and the control system feels intuitive. .
The best things come in small packages, but then not everyone would agree. I upgraded to the K10 and gave my istD to my OH. Now the K10 may be a better camera in many respects, but I much prefer the size of the *istD. Still, can't have everything.

Enjoy

Been there, got the same advice. I got a basic monopod and a cheap head (£18 complete with quick release plate). I find the tilt facility useful for doing close ups of flowers etc from a top down perspective, but as you say you can swivel the thing yourself.

PS it's great when walking too

Edit - I should have said a cheap head with tilt mechanism - from Cullmann or Kaiser

..............now all looks well from camera screen to monitor to print. But calibrate your screen 1st.
That surely is the important point. I have never really worried about how the picture looks in-camera, concentrating instead on matching monitor to print - but then seeing the picture in print is , to me, the object of the exercise.

. As for wet cleaning, the tin oxide sensor on the K10D needs a special solution mix because of the materials used and I can't find any in the UK (Eclipse E2, has to be the E2 solution, not the standard one which can corrode the sensor).
.
This is indeed most valuable information. From whence did it come?

Does this really mean that the vast array of sensor (wet) cleaning kits around are unuseable on the K10D? My sensor cleaning kit carries no such warning and so I would have used it without hesitation had the need arisen.
