Enviable kit list

Came across this blog site today - this photographer's list of Pentax kit is enough to make one weep. Not that I'm the envious type mind.

http://www.digitalhub.org/2006_12_01_archive.html

My list could easily be fitted onto the back of a postage stamp:

Pentax ist DL
Pentax DA 16-45mm
Pentax SMC A 24/2.8
Pentax SMC A 50/1.4
Sigma 70-300 APO Macro
Benbo Trekker tripod
Assortment of filters

That's all folks.....

there's something just a little odd about anyone who's minimalist kit includes the battery grip. Especially if it only includes pancake lenses, surely these two accessories are at odds with one another?
you don't have to be mad to post here

Makes your ears bleed, let alone weep.

Not sure the pictures he's published at Flickr are all that amazing, though. I think if I was going to boast of a kit list like that, I'd want some amazing photos to justify it...

There's hope for the rest of us yet, I think

Agreed - I wasn't blown away by any of the images, though competent enough. His Yosemite landscapes lack depth - I like to see foreground interest in landscapes generally.

2 K10Ds with grips in his 'minimalist' kit....my minimalist (and genuinely pocketable) kit comprises an ME Super with a 50/1.4 attached

Any plans to get a second body?

If so, keep quiet.

The current body has excellent lenses ($500). If I were to go for a second body or, heaven forbid, a different brand, well ... just try and imagine what would happen. Suffice to say it would involve MY entrails, and NOT for auguring.

One of my biggest regrets about going digital is that my ME Super is now gathering dust. It's worth practically nothing, I'll probably never use it again now, but it holds the imprint of so many memories, nearly 20 years worth. I think in all that time I replaced the battery maybe twice, and it never gave even a hint of unreliability. I dig it out from time to time, cock the shutter and fire it just to hear the noise it makes.

The ME Super does make a wonderful sound

I feel the same way about my ME-F, although it doesn't make quite the same sound as a Super owing to its more complex mirror system. I get it out and run a film through it every once in a while just for old times sake.

I use an MX and 50/1.2 from time to time, just because I can

My ME Super hardly gets any use these days since I acquired a ist DL. In 15 years of ownership so far (and it was 3rd-hand back then when I bought it for £40), the only problem I've had is with a loose battery compartment cover - remedied by strong sellotape! I mainly put slide film through it and 90% of images were made using the aperture priority exposure mode - remarkable how many of my transparencies were perfectly exposed. And so compact! Super by name super by nature.
