Whilst reading an early review of the K10D, I came across the following flash modes. I understand the first two, but what do the other three do?

• Flash On
• Flash On + Red-eye reduction
• Leading curtain sync (slow)
• Leading curtain sync + Red-eye
• Trailing curtain sync (slow)

To the beaurocratic mind, anything called a camera is, well, a camera so next stop treat all cameras the same.
Who knows? One day photographers will be subject to import duty just because "photo" enters their description. Then we will have to fill in reams of paperwork everytime we export/import ourselves.
You read it here first!

A personal choice, but I always use Crucial.
I have built a number of PCs and always used Crucial for them and never a problem.
So it seemed a reasonable choice for Compact Flash. I know they are not the fastest cards around but they are a reasonable price, no chance of fakes (order direct) and on the one time I had a failure they replaced it without question even though it was a couple of years old.

No, No, please no!

Wireless - any process whereby messages etc can be transmitted by electro magnetic waves.

Wire-Less - any process whereby messages etc can be transmitted without use of wires

So Wireless is wire-less but wire-less is not wireless

I remember when Wireless really was a wireless - a great wooden box fitted with glowing valves, which whistled and cracled, and got Radio Luxemburg!

Anyway, I suppose the pedantic will point out that the light is part of the electro magnetic spectrum (I think)

Just wanted a minor moan - forgive me - its the age of the beast!

Once you could rely on good old UK to simply change $ to £.
Now they add on 100quid as well
What a rip off

One of the great things about the Penatx digital series is that they use AA cells - probably the most common and cheapest of all batteries.
What is the betting that the next Pentax uses a proprietry battery at phenominal cost?

Sorry to disagree, folks, but I like my bridge camera - a KM A2. I have a Pentax film camera that still gets used from time to time and a *istD DSLR. Its horses for courses. If you like lugging tons of kit around then there are advantages to DSLR, but if you like to travel light then bridge cameras do what they claim - they offer a bridge between the DSLR and the pocket sized compact. They are both better and worse, but I would not be without one. It is the one I take on holiday when I do not have a car with me! My KM A2 is brilliant, but there are even better ones out now.
