This might be the first stage Pete.
With intregration, some things do take time. But I can imagine, as the contact points differ, future models have a hybrid hotshoe that will take both Ricoh and Pentax strobes. In the meantime, you will be able to use a Pentax strobe in manual mode, but not TTL. I actually do that with Pentax 360 flash on my Panasonic LX-5.

It does look a great little compact camera, as the Film GR is well regarded. A certain other website, which is good for new camera announcements, did some preview shots and compared them to another similar APS-C compact at F2.8 which was announced at Focus. The edge performance of the GR blew that rival into the weeds.

Well done Pentax! create an APS-C compact, but put it into a classic Ricoh camera body and voila! A wonderful small APS-C compact.

I may get one in time, but I have just bought a K-01.....

Thank you for creating this additional area, as it was me who posted the Ricoh GR announcement.

As Ricoh have purchased Pentax imaging, it is the Pentax arm that is responsible for all future cameras, both Pentax and Ricoh. The "Other" forum have already done that, so in many ways it makes sense.

Have you seen the New Ricoh GR?
What a lovely little APS-C compact camera.
It has the same sensor as the K-5/K-5II/K-5IIs/K30 and K-01

Have Pentax had some input into this little beauty?
I think so, the clue is on the dial.

Yep, that unique to Pentax mode is sat on the dial - TAv

Looks like the Pentax bits are rubbing off on the parent.

Mind you, it is not surprising, as Pentax are responsible for all photography products.

hi
not at my local asda they want £185
neil
I did get the price slightly wrong, it should be £139, not £135. Still it is strange that different Asdas charge different prices.
Still, the "New" Jessops, want £220 for it!

Jessops "were" the worst camera shop in UK, but before that, they were probably the best. Up until their massive expansion in the early 2000's, they were rather good. They even bought City Camera from the father of a friend, and they were great.
However by the mid to late 2000's it all went pear shaped.
Reading Peter Jones's comments, I think he wants to get back to what it was back in the 90's.

I only hope so.

Oh they will do something, what I am meaning is that they are unlikely to do something on this scale at one go.
I will be delighted if it happens though.

Hmmmmm. Interesting.

Probable? not likely
Possible? Maybe.

They to serious increase capacity at the factories to cope. This may already be there, we don't know.

Now what could take place if true.

Entry Level DSLR under the K30. Lets call it the K300. 16MP sensor, no sealing.

Upper level DSLR, lets call it the K-3. 20-24MP sensor slightly bigger body than the K-5 to sit above it. Possibly with no AA filter - A D7100 killer!

FF DSLR, lets call it the SV-1 after the 60's legend, again 20-24MP

FF DSLR, SV-1s with no AA filter.

FF Lenses? Depending on the materials used in the originals (mercury, lead etc) a re-boot of optical designs of the whole FA range but enhanced to reduce CA for digital, and that includes the FA* range.

will it happen? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
