True Greytop, however, who is going to really appreciate full 1080p over 720p. Unless the user has something greater than 42" (more 46" or more) screen, they are not going to notice much of a difference. 720p on my 32" is perfectly acceptable, infact I should say, fantastic.
Even BBC only transmit at 720p on their HD channel.
Anyway, that is not going to be the problem, it's editing the video.
The computer requirements to process HD video is phenominal. For example, Adobe's CS4 suite, which includes full HD editing, requires, and I quote,
Dual core of at least 2.8ghz, 4gb RAM and twin 500GB (minimum) hard drives with RAID at 7200rpm. So the reality will be, quad core 2.8ghz processor, 8GB RAM twin 500GB (or more) hard drives with raid, preferbly 4 or more with RAID 5 with striping.

As for the sensor on the K-x, it would appear to be the very same sensor that is in the D5000/D90 and D300, which can only be a good thing.

I think it is a little beauty, shame it does not have a pentaprism like my DS..........

Finally a DSLR worthy of replacement to my DS.

Nice spec, looks like the new shutter from the K-7, decent ISO range (but the proof will be the images, but 12800ISO!
Not sure about the White or Red ones (I am a Stockport county fan after all...)

I'll have a blue one please.

Often lens dealers etc on ebay will try to ask for silly money but remember another one will be just around the corner. I have been watching then on ebay for years and they just keep coming around. Now some do command a premium like the A 50mm F1.2, I have only ever seen one and it just ended at £311 pounds - if you are a pro or have the money then perhaps its worth it but for that kind of money you could get quite a nice wide variety of lenses if you are patient.

cheers

will

sorry for the long post
Tell me about it!
I bid for this very lens, started at £0 and ended up at £311! I was not prepaired to bid more than £180 for it (a reasonable price considering I bought the FA50 1.4 new for £160, and to take the price increase of new kit, and this was second hand!!!!!!)

But there you go, at some point another one if these will appear, hopefully!, as will the Holy Grail (the SMC-FA* 85mm F1.4 for the uninitiated...)

I have a small number of Manual K mount lenses (the others are M42)

but my faves are the following:-

SMC-M 55mm F1.8 (£22 on ebay)

Takumar 135mm F2.5 (not SMC coating, but single coated) for a mere £40 from a local camera dealer. can you imagine a EFOV 200mm F2.5 lens for a mere £40!

Both great and both worth looking out for.

Thanks both, I think my mind is made up, unless someone can come up with a cracking alternative.

Now to get one.

I concur, but I have noticed the level of sharpness at 100% in the trees on the 35mm in comparison to the 16-50.

If there is CA in the 16-50 (and by the image, some but not much) this can easily be eliminated in photoshop.

Thanks Greytop. A friend has the G10 and it appears a great camera, but bulky, however. The LX-3 is a little smaller, and hence easier to put in the pocket. I also like the dedicated leather case for it, which will be a must. Has your wife had any issues about the lack of zoom at the long end, wishing they had more focal length?
