Its about time they went the same way as Woolworths IMO. Jessops is not, and never was, a viable business model. (Hell they nearly went bankrupt during the greatest growth period ever in the camera industry!!).
I'm surprised by that comment. I wouldn't wish any business to go bankrupt whether Jessops, Woolworths or anyone else. It's not good for the high street, and certainly not good for the staff who lose their jobs.

Stefan, I dont know what camera culture is like in your neck of the woods but here in the UK at least high tech cameras are often regarded as male jewelry
Exactly. It's always the blokes with their DSLRs with phallic lenses, and their women with cute looking P&S models

But if you want a nice light camera you can carry at all times, with good ergonomics, and capable of good results, try the K-m. My partner has it. I have the K100D which I love, but I'm still jealous of her's.

Jacobs are selling it for only £330, less £30 cash back. At £300 it's a real bargain.

Card readers are also designed to use removable media ie you can take out a card without stopping and starting the USB reader (just need to ensure you aren't accessing it); but to change the card in the camera you have to stop the USB device (camera), turn camera off, open the door, change card, close door, turn camera on, then wait for computer to recognise the 'new' USB device before you start copying.
Are you saying it's ok just to pull out the card when it's finished copying, without going through the 'safely remove hardware' routine?

If you buy it let us know - I think you'll probably be the first on this forum!
Too late . We've had our K-m for a couple of weeks, as mentioned in another thread. The DoF preview is digital only. It's a nice camera and would take good pictures, if only my partner and I were decent photographers

I suffered from the same affliction with my K100. I was constantly needing to rotate images by about 1 degree. In the end I took it back to the chain which used to sell Pentax, J something, and they repaired it. So they're not all bad

My partner has bought (after some gentle persuasion) the K-m (from Gales cameras in Woodford- very helpful, I have no connection). A nice camera, small and light and does the business. She was going to buy in our local Jessops- it's in their new catalogue and on their website. But Pentax tells me that they are definitely not supplying Jessops with the model. And a chap in Cameraworld told me that Jessops will not be selling any more Pentax product. After a quick look in a branch yesterday he could well be right- not a single Pentax model on display.

So....why? And isn't this bound to be detrimental to Pentax?

Just musing- why K-m in UK and K2000 in US? Not sure about elsewhere.

The K-m is now available. And I've convinced my partner it's a camera she can't live without. Not that I'm manipulative

Never mind £45, I just bought it for £37.49. If you search for codes, there's 25% off Jessop's own branded products. And I collected in store, so no delivery charge. Ok, I'll admit it: I'm a cheapskate!

PS It's working well.
