Sorry george, I don't think the value of Sterling has anything to do with it, Bristol Cameras are still quoting sensible prices, as are Cameraworld.
With their buying power Jessops should be more realistic on price, or are they getting better backhanders to push other brands?
As for H/D, you can still pre order a Km!!!
and Park Cameras have the Km at £339!

As I said the offer has ended. It was there for two or three days, may have been a misprice or the codes may have been removed as no cash back was mentioned....John

Jessops don't really pursue Pentax sales, so their prices will reflect that they order them in specially. They are obviously not the first choice for Pentax supplies - much better to go to the sources that actively promote the products.

I dont know why everyone gets so wound up about Jessops and Pentax, would you visit a Renault dealer if you wanted to buy a new Mercedes?

Jessops is not a specialist dealer for one make. We expect them to sell all makes.
Pentax is in danger of dying out unless they sell plenty of bulk, and that means it needs to be available in high street chains such as Jessops, and at reasonable prices.
So even if you wouldn't buy a camera from Jessops, you should be concerned if not enough other people are doing so.

My first Pentax came from Jessops, they were the only choice at the time, now they just seem a waste of retail space as far as smaller, better quality camera makes are concerned.

I've just remembered where my first Pentax came from: Dixons!
That was a P30 bought as a present by my parents. Thanks to this ordinary high street shop stocking Pentax, and some luck, I was introduced to the wonderful world of Pentax. It was only later that I gained knowledge about more specialist dealers and equipment.
I hope that similar things are still happening nowdays: non experts discovering Pentax by accident.

Jessops were struggling before the financial crisis, and will be in very straitened circumstances now. Their whole strategy must be one of short-term survival.
So don't expect any long-term thinking from them, or investment in things like staff training.
