It can be done.
I have set up the front dial to change iso and the rear dial to change aperture in Av mode / shutter in Tv mode.

It is a dream to use and has sped up my shooting.

Change the settings under e-dial programming. You are given a basic range of customisation for the dials for each shooting mode but you can then customise each of these when you select them as an option. It is a bit hidden and not so obvious. You have to click OK on the first set which shows you options for each 'shooting mode' set then Ok on the next page (which at first only shows one set of dial programs) this brings up a new screen where you can choose from about 6 different dial settings - confusing to write down!

I have a K100DS that has a battery life of a few hours but I put this down to it being totally immersed in water on a ride in Orlando - 'Jaws' - despite being in a camera bag beneath my legs!
It also doesn't switch off once switched on - I have to open the battery compartment.

Luckily I was able to claim under my insurance.

My wife has just got herself a K-X and I'm blown away by the high-iso quality.

The differeence in noise at 6400 between the k-x and a K20 is amazing.

worked a treat - looks a lot better than the software that came with the K20D

I never considered the 55-300. Because it had a longer range, I thought it would be an inferior lens!!

1. I have the 50mm 1.4. It seems really soft at under f2.8, by f4.00 it is sharp. Is this normal? I ask this as this lens was attatched to my K100D that got destroyed when it was soaked. I am now using it on my new K20 and when I zoom in on an image it looks soft (almost blurry) but is fine by the time I go upto f4. Could it have suffered some kind of water damage?

2. I have the 50-200 kit lens and I really enjoy the range of it. I like getting candid portraits at the long end. What would be a good replacement for it to get a better quality lens?

Jessops - very gelpful salesperson - I think I actually got someone who knew something about cameras!

Home insurance - just had to ring up and make a claim over the phone - got told within 24 hours the result of my claim

And I am now sitting at home with a brand new....

I went to Jessops (not expecting much) to be told that I have to send the camera off to be assessed and it will cost me £25 and take upto three weeks!
I explaiend to the assistant that it had water damage and what was his opinion. He said he was 99% sure it was unrepairable. I asked would he put that down in writing, expecting him to refuse, but he did and even valued the camera at between £550 - £600. I never expected soemone from Jessops to be so helpful!

I put through the claim with my home insurance company by phone (excellent service too) and today they have agreed to pay me £549 (£599 less £50 excess)

I can now go about purchasing my replacement camera.

My home contents insurance seems to cover me for £1500.
I will try them instead.

How do I persuade them the K20 is a valid replacement and not the K2000/K-m. Wasn't the K100D the entry level model?

the only little worry is the line in my policy that states... "we have a nationwide netwrok of suppliers" - I hope I am not forced to use one of these as the likelihood of them offering Pentax is low.

I am a bit wary of using my household insurance as the last time I made a claim they put my premiums up and I expect I ended up paying for the value of the claim over the next few years!!

I expect they will only value the K100D at £300 anyway.

I am now thinking that if I get £300 from then and then put £300 of my own money towards a K20 then I have upgraded to a K20 for only £300
