Wow,

after 5-6 months with a weird computer drivers issue that didn't allow me to post on this forum from my pc, I suddenly can post again, and leave the girl's Mac alone!

It might be connnected to the fact that today I shipped my sold K10d.
Very very sad moment, I promised myself i would sell one of the 2 bodies if I didn't use it, and I kept my promise.

Will buy the 50-135 tomorrow though... can't keep the money for too long...

By the way, if after the summer announcement of the new high spec camera I'm not pleased with the specs, I will be switching to nikon.......

What do you think?

Nathan

I would learn a bit about photography.

Possibly before spending hundreds of pounds on equipment.

For a basic shoot you will only need window light.

A flashgun is a steep learning curve, and will give you rather pleasent results once you've learnt how to use it.

A reflector is a valuable yet inexpensive tool, and you can use it outdoors to replicate the effect of 2-3 professional lights - if used correctly.

I cannot imagine advising you on 'read this article on lighting. I have been working professionally for 2 years, and only recently I started to consider studio lights. I've studied for at least 4 months before putting teh studio together, and I have been experimenting for 2 months, only now starting to achieve interesting results.
Learning how to work with light requires a lot of reading, studying, practicing, and experimenting.

If you have any more specific queries, please let me know, and I'll be happy to give my opinion.

Kind Regards,

Nathan

Hi there,

Modest Opinion
to me it doesn't seem that you are in a position of spending much money on expensive (or cheap - [read poor quality]) studio lighting, and although this is your first post, it doesnt seem that you have much photographic experience to take the challenge of learning studio lighting so suddenly.
Studio lighting is INCREDIBLY hard to learn, and most photographers will struggle to get a decent result after months and months of experimenting.

I would strongly suggest you help us learn what your equipment you have available, and from then we can give some suggestions.

I really wouldn't suggest getting rid of the 12-24..
The others will find a good replacement in the 18-250, but the wide zoom is something else.

MIne is probably 30 years old, bought off ebay for a very modest sum of money. I've used it for 3 years and it is absolutely perfect. Great lens, I see you're near guildford, maybe you wanna meet up and try it?

Cheers,
Nathan
