I will try and explain, and will later reiterate the point that all this information is indeed in the manual.
AV Mode - APERTURE PRIORITY - Allows the user to set a given aperture (f-stop), and the camera will establish the correct time for the exposure of the scene. In this mode you can ONLY select the aperture, and therefore do not have the possibility of selecting a different TIME from the one automatically selected by the camera."THE TIME IS LOCKED"

I hope this has clarified your doubts.
If you have any more specific questions about how a specific MODE works in a specific way, please don't hesitate to ask, and many members will be happy to help, with advice (Kinder than mine ) and suggestions.

I have played with a D300 in the past, and I completely agree with each and every point you mention. Which is why I was happy to keep my K10's and not update to the K20/nikon counterpart.
I think my consideration is more to the future than to the present, I am willing to wait and see what Pentax will produce, but i am aware of the fact that if it doesn't produce a camera with the right adjustments compared to the K20, then I will have to go for a brand that actually does value the Semi-professional Market, and produces 3-4 cameras with these intentions. In the end, if we look at nikon, the K20 can be compared to D90, D300, D700, and this allowes for a lot of choice in different directions. Not considering the fact that newer cameras are surely being produced, and we will soon see a D400, and a D700x etc etc..
I have a feeling, "I love Pentax, but does Pentax love me?"

I've been shooting a few gigs recently, and even with the 31 ltd the K10 seriously struggles in low light, speed, and mainly ISO performance.
I know how much better the K20 is, but i'm not sure its enough.. and I've seen quite incredible results from other brands.
Woodworm, the article is brand new, and I hadn't seen it previously. Lets hope...

Well, as sad as it sounds, I've been reading a lot of rumors and comments here, and on plenty of other fora.
It really looks like Pentax wants to "be interesting" as per the new company logo, and will produce an EVIL (electronic viewfinder) highly specd camera... to follow the K20.
I have been wanting to update for a long time now, and as much as the K20 was IMO not enough of a step up from the K10, I am not interested in pursuing new types of digital developments. I don't care about the live-view capabilities, and the only updates I would probably be interested in, are the ones to be found in pro nikon models. (D700/D3/D3x)
So there it is, if Pentax doesn't provide the amateur-professional with a product worthy of consideration, then I'll have to go and look at other horizons.
