While wandering around an old Bedfordshire church last Saturday, this caught my eye - the partial reflection of a stained glass window in the glass front of a wooden cabinet on the adjacent wall. It wasn't an easy shot as there were lots of chairs stacked in front (the remainder being socially distanced in the nave), and I had only the kit lens (18-55 WR) on the KP. I used live view and reached out above the chairs in an attempt get a reasonable composition.

KP in Av Mode; Lens at 55mm; ISO 1250; 1/15s at f/8 -2EV; adjustments and crop in PaintShop Pro. Any comments welcome.

Good comparison with great shots, Barrie. I enjoy photos which represent the more realistic action and power of the sea, as in your second one here, in which the breaking waves are almost audible!

I'm enjoying these, John. There seem to be too many images on the Web that appear too dark for the apparent weather conditions and/or time of day/year (perhaps for 'artistic' reasons or whatever), but I prefer travel photos to give the feeling of being there with the photographer - which is what these (the enlarged versions) do for me. Thank you.

Another positive -
Last September I ordered a used SMC Pentax K series manual lens on eBay from a seller in Japan. It was described as 'near mint'. It arrived a week later and it could have been brand new - superb condition and in perfect working order.

I like the concentration and the commitment to the song shown by both performers in the second shot. Perhaps a crop off top and right? Magenta seems quite strong - was that in the actual lighting?

Lovely little set - I think the drizzle and slight background haze has added to the atmosphere. Particularly like the 2nd one

Generally I always try to remember to install a lens hood, not only to exclude stray light but also to protect the front glass from accidental impact damage. However, I also agree with Rob - always using a filter removes the risk of accidentally damaging the front element when cleaning. I mostly have branded filters (such as Hoya) costing around £30 - I suppose image degradation is theoretically possible but I can't say that I've noticed any.
