The ME super for me is the pinicle of manual focus camera design. Well alright the LX is really, but I don't have one of those and will probably never be able to justify buying one.

The ME Super has exactly the right amount of automation to make it fast, while retaining ease of access to manual features and when all else fails it still has mechanical backup on the shutter at flash sync speed. If there was a digital back available for my ME-F (ME-Super with focus assist) then I would never have bought a DSLR. Which I suppse is one reason there is no digital back for the ME Super!

Hi all
If i go for the Sigma what will i loose in terms of what it cant do compared to the Pentax ????
Everything bar manual mode on the K10D, stick with the Pentax gun.
never used one but the Sigma at least claims PTTL compatibility, it should work fully with K10D.

I'd still stick with the Pentax though, I don't trust Sigma reverse engineering.

mmm I think Tom is just lulling us into a false sense of security with all this talk of Macro.

He is actually breeding a race of Giant flys to do his bidding and take over the world!!!!!!11111oneoneeleven

Just spotted an e-mail from picstop.com in my inbox advertising lower Sandisk memory prices.

Sandisk Extreme III 2GB now down to £19.90 - I paid £40 for the same thing just before xmas when I got the K10D.

http://www.picstop.co.uk/Secure-Digital-SD/Order_1/Secure-Digital-SD/SanDisk-Ext...%28SD%29-Card---2GB

£19.90 for this is a great price and each time I've used picstop their service has been excellent!

Why couldn't they have done this BEFORE I paid 7dayshop £14.90 for a 1GB Ultra II?

/me wanders off grumbling

certainly the DA 18-55 is full frame from ~24 onwards, and I have heared the same of the 16-45. The 50-200 does not have FF coverage at any focal length though, it remains about the same throughout its range.

clearly it deppends on the lens, but at least with the ability to mount all lenses on all cameras we have the option to use DAs on full frame if we want to (the 18-55 at 18 on full frame produces quite an ammusing effect)

Chris at SRS is an absolute Star, I am unlikely to use anyone else unless for something which Chris can't get.

the Pentax link further up says $899 and $999 so not cheap by any means but certainly not totally out of reach.

Also interesting to note that the DA* 200 and 300 primes also have SDM (See the pics on the Pentax forum, they have AF/MF switches implying SDM)

edit: oh and it's tagged on the end of their names as well, detective work not needed if you read the post properly! lol

if they are in good working order both those models will fetch a fairly good price on ebay, the MX particularly.

As mentioned above, make sure you put up good clear photos. It has always struck me as laughable the number of bad photos there are on the photography section of ebay!

I saw a similar one a week or so ago in PKAF mount, had a quick google and came to the conclusion it was probably a bit rubbish so I don't think you missed out on much.

My Dad used to have a Vivitar 100-300 F5.6-6.7 and that was a truely shocking lens, since then I am very skeptical of off brand lenses in general and long zooms in particular.
