the 140c isn't useless, it simply can only be used in manual mode. Yes thats annoying but I don't think it's fair to say that the K10D cannot be used for macro work

A lot of good points have been made, I'm not going to bother adding my 2 cents since between George, Matt and Ben everything I would say has been said.

The only thing I will say is this

It turns out I really like Pentax gear. I love the combination of optical performance, size and price from the lenses. I love the colours, tones and shaddow detail my DL2 and K10D provide (yes, even the DL2, she's no match for the K10 but she's still a lady). I've had Canon AND Nikon people go gooey over the colour reproduction my DL2 + kit lens produces, and I'm pretty sure thats nothing to do with me.

What I'm trying to say is this: I don't actually care if Pentax go full frame or not. The only thing I want them to do is to continue to produce high quality, relatively small cameras and lenses at prices I can afford. I'll leave the decision as to how best to do that up to them.

You can see some of my work at the following site of which the first ten images are shot on the K10D...

wow! those are amazing. It's really great to see what the K10D is capable of in the hands of a pro.

You probably won't believe this, but your new camera actually contains a very accurate built-in spot-meter.

Indeed, I myself am contemplating picking up a second hand handheld meter for this very reason

A company I have dealings with kept their backups in a locked fire safe in their server room.

Their building was outside Buncefield fuel depot

When the depot exploded the server room was hit by part of the neighbouring building, destroying the servers and burying the fire safe under many tons of rubble.

The moral? Don't keep your backups in the same place as your computer. Even a different room could (and in this case would) make the difference.

My main PCs hard drives are water cooled because it is my experience (though Google disagree) that hot HDDs fail more often. I then back up across the network to a second PC which exists solely to house my backup hard drives (note plural). I also backup to DVD.

An important point to note, writeable DVDs and CDs are not particularly light stable, even +/- R ones. It's essentially a photographic process and as such they react to light just like any other film. If you use them for long term archival make sure you are using high quality disks and keep them in the dark.

I'd just like a 16-45
if we're very lucky, all these lovely people with loads of money will need to sell their 16-45s after they get their spangley shiney new 16-50s

DA50-200 = approx 70-200,
thats interesting, my 50-200 gives corner darkening throughout the range on my ME-F (I know it's not usefully usable on that camera, it's just the best viewfinder I have).

My 18-55 is fine on FF from about 24-55

if I can afford it I may well swap out my 18-55 for a 16-50, but I probably wouldn't be able to justify changing a 16-45.
