Another outstanding macro Tom. Because of your technique I recently ordered and yesterday received a male to male adapter and have been experimenting with my Pentax M 100mm f4 macro with a reversed Pentax 50mm f1.7 WOW! almost a microscope. I also have some extension tubes and will be trying those out too. I would be interested to see what you have invented for your flash diffuser.

Cheers

Drew

PS: Intersting house fly fact: Not only is each compound eye made
up of 4,000 six-sided lenses (all of which work independently) did you know that those two short, thick antennae set between the eyes detect the slightest air movement. No wonder they are so hard to swat!

Awesome picture Tom. I'm glad I sobered up before reading the forum posts this morning, I won't wanted to have met this fellow whilst I still had a hangover. (Watched way too much rugby yesterday and consumed too much beer to drown english sorrows!)

Brilliant picture, Tom
I have tried this myself a few times but I just cannot get the focus right.
Perhaps I will try again when I have time - but there are so many things to try again.

Got mine from Denton Photo Optics - the guy is very easy to talk to and will (in my experience) ask a lot of questions to make sure you get the right thing. Give him a ring.

Great!
I just smacked my lcd with a rolled up newspaper....

Think it's dead now.
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Once again an amazing image Tom. Congratultions. I too have caught the bug, if you pardon the pun , and last week ordered a male-to-male adapter from SRB in Luton. It came next day - excellent service.

I've not yet experimented. I hope an old(ish) man can learn from a youngster.

Hi Tom,

I agree with the others.. great photo.

You might be interested in the work of Charles Krebs, who does a lot of insect macro work, It was mentioned on a science site that I go and get confused on occasionally..

Check out his setup from the link in the first paragraph.

mmm I think Tom is just lulling us into a false sense of security with all this talk of Macro.

He is actually breeding a race of Giant flys to do his bidding and take over the world!!!!!!11111oneoneeleven
