I've struggled a bit with manual lenses with my K-r, but that is probably just down to inexperience. Stationary objects were fine, especially close up, but moving objects were very hard. The 'catch in focus' feature is pretty good and worth having a play with. It doesn't always work, but I usually got a few shots each time that were o.k. Not as many as with AF, though.

We have plenty of world and time, but not enough cash.......

Nice pictures. We were in Tallinn in July and it's one of our favourite places from everywhere we have been. Can't post any photos though - all taken before I got the Pentax......

I have a Think Tank digital holster which comes in a range of sizes. I have the 20 which is easily big enough for a standard zoom. It holds my Pentax 18-250mm mounted on the body with lens hood in place and all the range can be expanded a little by unzipping a clever extension for a bigger lens. It also has no problem with a smaller lens like a 50mm prime.

Very versatile, extremely well made (better than Lowepro in my opinion), comfortable to carry and not that expensive. I picked mine up on Ebay for £20 and there are usually a few new and the odd used one available on there.

I have a couple of these:

So far they have been excellent and last longer than the Pentax one.

Cheers everyone. Almost as many personal preferences as there are straps, but it might be a case of buying a few and trying them out.

I have a problem with my spine which means that it's difficult to have any weight pulling on my neck. I have the standard strap for my K-r which is o.k. for short periods, but is, quite literally, a pain in the neck for longer sessions.

There are loads of after market straps out there, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for something more comfortable. Something that sits more on the shoulder than neck would be ideal.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Not sure about this one, but if you have any Sony remote control in the house it might be worth trying that as a wireless shutter release first. For some reason most Sony remotes work with Pentax cameras.

I have several Sony remotes, including a handy small one, which all operate the shutter remotely with my K-r

Doing a tour. Delhi, Agra, Jaipur then tiger hunting in Ranthambore.

All very organised so won't really have much free time.
Sounds great - we are sticking to the coastal areas this time - Mumbai, Goa, Cochin etc. Yours sounds better - though we are going to Myanmar (Burma) after which could be an experience.

Welcome to the forum. I'll be bringing my Pentax out to India in November so that will be at least two there if you get one!
