Pentax K-r battery

Posted 01/10/2011 - 13:12 Link
Good day all! I am looking for a cheap secondary battery for my K-r, there are obviously lots to choose from and I am sure some are very dodgy, any reliable ones out there?

Cheers!

Hi,

this is a frequently asked question if ever there was one.

I got a higher than standard capacity HAHNEL for twenty quid from SRS with my KR in April. Works perfectly alongside the dearer Pentax branded one.

Hahnel ones from SRS Microsystems are probably the best 3rd party batteries. They have the closest capacity to what is specified where as cheapy ebay ones tend to hold less than 70% of the stated capacity.

I used Hahnel batteries in my K10D and never had a problem.

Has Bill says a 'frequently' asked question. It is down in the main to 'personal opinion. Some believe that you can only use a Pentax branded. Others , (like me), believe that in reality there is possibly 'only one or two makers'

I have bought non branded for my K10's and the K7's and to date they have performed equally as well as the branded version. I have just bought s from ebay at a fiver each and dont expect any issues.

Hanel are certainly a good choice.

The Hahnel for the Pentax KR is rated at 7.4 volts 1120mA per hour and 8.3Watts per hour.

The Pentax kit one is a 7.4Volt, 1050 mA hour, 7.8 Wattts per hour labelled item.

Many on line are lower spec assuming they actually tell you.

I have a couple of these:

So far they have been excellent and last longer than the Pentax one.

Buy an AA adapter. AA rechargeables last 8.9% longer than the D-LI109.

I use a Blumax Battery from batterylogic.co.uk.
It has more power than the Pentax, and lasts longer than the original battery. The price is £10.74 including postage.
I do believe that these are also available from Amazon.
However, for even better performance, I recommend the new 2500 Sanyo Eneloops. They are brilliant!

Pentax Kr,MX,SuperA,MZ5N,360FGZ Flash. Many lenses

Ordered a Blumax from Battery logic at 17.40 yesterday evening and it arrived in this morning's post. Fantastic service.
