£290 now. Almost tempted to return to a DSLR. That's a silly price

Whilst I'm not personally keen and don't have an account, my son generates far more business from his business Facebook page than from any other single source, including his website. Depends on the business you are in I guess, but he gets a huge amount of work from people who know people who have 'liked' him.

He posts regular mini-blogs/updates on there and these can be seen and read by thousands of people.

Like it or loathe it - it does work (and it's free....)

Does anyone know if you can transfer photos to the new Tesco tablet? I currently have a Blackberry Playbook, which is fine for surfing the web, but you can't transfer photos either directly from a camera or via a SD card so it's useless for backing up photos when travelling and we end up taking the netbook as well.

I think the Tesco tablet just has a mini-SD card slot so wondered if you could connect via cable straight from the camera or get some sort of adapter to convert a full size SD card to a mini connection?

Just considering the Tesco tablet as we have a lot of unused Clubcard Vouchers, but don't want to make the Blackberry mistake again.

Thanks John.

It's actually a piece of equipment to use with a Pentax! Just quite a bit cheaper than SRS.....

Can't find any recent discussions on here, but just wondered what people's experience of Calumet is? Prefer to use SRS where possible, but in this instance might use Calumet and wanted to know if people's experience with after sales if something has to be fixed under warranty is positive? I don't live near a shop so everything would be done by internet/post.

Thanks

Thanks, too, Dr O.

My ideal combination would be more or less as you suggest. A K-5 or K-30 plus 60-250mm for the wildlife and an X100 for landscapes/people. I like the look of the GR, but the X100 is quite a lot cheaper at present, plus it has the viewfinder.

Only issue is the cost. I do have 8 months, though. Perhaps my wife won't notice if I buy a bit at a time

Just back from Alaska. I took my 18-135 which gave me WR insurance and you will probably need it there. I also made a lot of use of my 55-300 not only for wildlife, where it is indispensable ie eagles and bears if you are lucky, but also for landscapes. We were driving in the interior and I found that for a lot of the time one wanted to capture the mountains without emphasizing the immediate foreground which a WA lens will often tend to do. I also had the DA 15 and 21 in the bag but did not use either to any great extent - just the DA 15 where I had a really good foreground. I find in many ways that landscapes are more realistic when taken with a degree of telephoto. If I went again, I think I would again take both zooms and maybe also the DA15 for occasional use. This combination avoids a lot of lens changing.
Thanks Miles - really helpful. I think the late August/early September weather is much the same as mid-May. Fewer bears in May, though

That strikes me as possibly the bargain of the week for you
Yes, I did thanks. Just weighing up options. Russ has a K-30 and a 16-45 for sale as well.
