I don't think so - some of the earlier models needed a firmware update for SDM lenses (although I think that was to make them actually use the SDM rather than anything to do with EXIF). I'm not a K7 owner (or a particular expert on the technical gubbins of cameras) so I can't tell you why it's doing that, only that to the best of my knowledge it isn't because of anything you have/n't done.
