Glad things are solved

So it was that you didn't format the card?
I maybe didn't format the card in the K7 but on my PC or in the K20. John advised that the card should be formatted in the camera it is going to be used in

David, I use the exact same card in my K-7 without any problems what so ever. I suspect you may have a faulty card.
Well that answers a good few questions. Took camera (K7+8gb) out for a walk this morning and there was not a problem!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for your assistance

Fingers crossed then!

It's worth reminding everyone who doesn't realise the significance that we always should format a card in the camera it will be used in.
Well I for one wasn't aware of that. "Assumed" format in Pentax Digital camera would do for any of the range!

The simplest explanation is a faulty card.
Well John I have just updated the firmware on the K7 put the card back in the camera and it showed the 34 images on the card and then let me format in camera. Put the camera in drive mode and ran off 30 or so shots with no problem. So will just have to wait and see if the problem reappears. (Making sure I have a spare card with me in case!)

Thank you for the response

I'm using a 8GB Lexar Platinum II in my K-x ,and it says 60x and Class 4 on it - if that's any help.

I would expect that if the K-x can take an 8GB , then the K7 should
I just hope it is not the camera(s)

I agree, HCSD cards have been around a while so the K7 should support them (Just like is says on the door of the K7 card slot Stefan!:wink

No the K10D support SDHC out of the box, It even says SDHC on the door of the card slot so that's a big clue

As I said - it has been a long day

The *ist D could be upgraded to SDHC with a firmware update, don't know about the other models
That's where I got that from then. I remember doing firmware upgrade on my istD

It's nearly 22:30 so I will give this a rest for the night. Will make a fresh start in the morning...

David, SDHC format supports to 32GB and the K10D is SDHC compatible so it should also work in that one.
Thanks Stefan - This taking some time to sort out! Card is OK in K20. Not ok in K7 or K10. Did the K10 need a firmware upgrade to use 8GB SDHC cards?

If it works with the 4gig card then the 8gig card must be faulty, can you get someone else to use the card in there cam?
Didn't mean to ignore your response Just carried away testing different combos - and messing that up!
