If you know current prices, these will give you an idea of what to expect very soon

DA 17-70

DA* 50-135

DA*60-250

K-7 price has the rises already included in the price so is NOT expected to go up. Really do suggest you call Chris monday morning if your budget isn't flexible.
absurd prices!

I'm glad you enjoyed!
better to carry the 10-20, if you can use only the 35 or 43 or 77, to catch the impressiveness of the monolith!
Wanting for your photos!

for example?
1) Bean bag with or without tripod screw, supported on wall, tree, etc.
2) Lying on floor, leaning on wall and using elbows as supports.
3) Placing camera directly on top of wall, on floor, against wall or tree, etc.
4) Using SR
5) Monopod
6) Photographic walking stick (has tripod bush in top)
7) Increase ISO as needed for hand holding
Using car as support

and probably many more ideas. Improvise!

The list is usefu, I knew some, no others...unfortunately can't bring the carry with me wherever!

Chapter monopod: How many stops can I reduce with a monopod?

The MK1 looks good, weights only 750 grams, max load 3,011 kg, Maximum Operating Height: approx 135cm, Folded Length: 51.5cm (a little long, but is ok), but why costs only £25? which is the downside?

Many useful cues (ideas)
"Save the money you would otherwise spend on a 18-250 on some filters. "
yes spending money on filters could be an idaea, as I can't decide between Hitech and Lee, so quite espensive!

"decent (and comfortable) camera bag, made it a lot easier to lug my camera when I went travelling."
I have got a FastPack 200, that is 1 kg, is perfect for a heavier gear.I was wondering is there a backpack to carry safely and quick access 25% equipment and 75% personal staff?

"What are you planning on photographing, are you in the cities or out in the bush
I'm off to the red centre tomorrow (Uluru) and as is always the case over here, you do a lot of walking, so going light weight is essential, at least for me it is.

I will be taking only my 3 Ltds and a light weight Slik tripod"
Both of them!
I've been To Uluru, you will love the colours at sunset and sunrise. And also during the day, will be amzed how the "rock" will change!

What do you mean "light weight Slik tripod". the 340 something?

"you've got to ask yourself is it really worth forking out all that cash to save a few hundred grams in your luggage, and at the same time lose image quality (esp. at the long end) - and wider apertures? I'd say not - but then again I'm happy (though not sure this is the right verb) carting around 4 lenses!"
very interesting one as well, I will gain 450g, not much actually for a much better quality. The only thing is to change the lenses!
To be honest I can carry also the 50mm, you do not feel it but appreciate the result!

Thanks a lot guys

[quote:3496ace15f="johnriley"]I don't take tripods on long walks, they drag you down and make a pleasure a chore. quote]
Is this a common opinion? when I start to feel the weight of the backpack the walk becomes a pain for me as well.
The only thing is that it should be useful to use filters

There are ways to get around stabilising the camera without using a tripod.
for example?

The Cullmann does seem expensive for a small tripod.[...] It would be better to actually look at some tripods in a shop, probably won't have the one's you've listed though.
that could be an idea, but usually prices are higher, aren't they?
