Just wondering how many Pentax Users we have down in Devon as I moved down here from Leeds a few months back. Went to a couple of meets up North and would like to see if anyone down here fancies setting something up.

2 here (husband & wife team both users) but in the strange, wild North of the county. I think there is at least one other North Devoner I have seen posts from. And i think a few around Exeter.

Before we came here, I had no idea how big Devon was or the seeming North / South divide. I know it sounds bizzare but Plymouth seems as far away as Bristol to me. WE've been here 7 years and only been to Plymouth once and that was on the way back from Cornwall.

Anyway, when you've had more responses it will be interesting to see where in the county people are as well.

Wow, quite a response!

Yes, Devon is quite large. Getting from Plymouth to Ilfracombe for a concert was tough by road and harder back by public transport! It is do-able if you are willing to spend the time (which is the main problem, half the day vanishes). Ilfracombe to Barnstaple by bus, train to Exeter and then change to Plymouth. Madness, wish I could drive!

Wollacombe isn't far from there. It is a shame they demolished the railway bridge in Barnstaple in the 70s (or 80s, can't remember the details). Lovely part of the country up by Exmoor. Bideford isn't far from there either.

There is a big North/South divide due to having to go all the way around Dartmoor which takes up a huge portion of the county. No rail links through it and diminishing all the time and the major road links skirt around everything.

Tiverton on the other side of Exmoor so it is quite a trek across as well. Exeter is the only real 'central' place in Devon as it is where all the transport infrastructure intersects.

Judging by posts, it would seem we are currently eight here in Devon.

Plus 1 more. I would be very interested in a meet. I am limited to 1 weekend a month though as both me & my wife have kids from previous relationships and they come to us most weekends.
I could bring them with me but I'm not sure that would be a good idea with all that expensive equipment around.

I think it would be best to wait for the weather to settle down and arrange something for the Spring. Gives everyone time to prepare, and transport will be easier.

I live in Plymouth as well!

If we organize anything, I would be happy to join you and learn from you all!

Hi everyone!
Does anyone fancy organize a photographic daytrip somewhere in Devon/Cornwall?

Let me know!

It's looking like somewhere in the middle of Dartmoor, or between Plymouth and Exeter, maybe on the coast. Happy to car share from Plymouth. (or motorbike if I get it MOT'd in time... and you're adventurous!)

Definitely, let's organize! Thank you for offering to share the car.

What about the 28/06?

Max11, Darkmunk and Tyr,

I'm in Ivybridge, relatively new to DSLR (18 months). I enjoy wildlife, landscape and macro photography, keen to improve and meet up.

You interested?

Max11 and I nearly got it together to meet up one evening on the Barbican, but the timings didn't fit, then I had flu. Happy to try again. Makes sense to just sit and have a beer and see what it is we all expect from this.
