Yes let's wait if anyone wants to join us...by the way...we avoided nice showers this morning

Do you want my "wanted" macro lenses? You can borrow the 12-24! and you will use it much better than me!

If it doesn't make any difference to you, it was coming to my mind that I would prefer to do on the 05/07 as I have to book thickets for a flight abroad within this sunday and I have still to decide the dates.
Is that ok?
the weather forecast looks pretty much the same fro both days

You focused on the L... what do you mean?

Here is something for you to play with link
Hyperfocal distance is an important one in landscapes.
It to were you need to focus to get infinite (horizon) and most of the biggest overlap of DOF with the rest of the frame.

With 12mm, f/22 the Hyperfocal distance is 33cm, so everything from 16.5 cm of you and the rest should be sharp then.

The patch of grass looks 3meter away so every aperture should have worked with the photo.

f/8 the top of the lens at 12mm the Hyperfocal distance is 91cm. If you set the focus on that everything 45.6 cm to infinite is in the DOF so should be sharp.
F/22 is really to much for such wide lenses.

Do keep in ind that the Dof decreas with the focal length so 24mm at f/8 has a HD of 362cm resulting in a focus field of 181.1 cm till infinite.
So if you double the focal length 2x the rest will be 4x, 3x the focal length 9x, 4x focal length 32x.
I forgot the name of this but it has to do with square root

Is there a simple rule of finding the Hyperfocal distance btw?
Thanks Stefan, Helpful as usual!
A little bit tired to understand completely though!

I didn't know the exact definion of HF distance. is that related with the fact we have to focus at 1/3?

I focused on the column (brighter) on the L.

I have to re read the last part (from f/8...) which Aperture would have you used?
Thanks

How many of you carry a tripod abroad?

Do you own a lightweight one that use only abroad?

that may help me to choose between 190 and 055!

Thanks

link

f/22 1/45
I took one later with a better composition (without the grey below)but underexposed

I had some doubts on this photo at the beginning, but then I thought it was good to go for increased DOF. Is it f/22 too much? Iused the DA 12/24.
I focused on the L.

It was windy that day but to be honest I preferred to respect aboriginal sacred site (I changed my mind when I was there!)

Thanks Guys but 12-24 looks to heavy. and if I add the tripod+head (manfrotto 190+488rc2=2.6 kg) it is enough!

Do you bring the tripod abroad, guys?
