On the spur of the moment I splurged half my lens fund on a Pentax 645 with the 75mm lens. Strange idea about trying to learn the hobby backwards if you like and just fancied trying some B&W landscapes with it. I'm assuming I'll need a decent light meter from somewhere - any that folk can recommend?

I have two of these adaptors. One I bought down at the Focus show and one that came with a recent lens.

With one attached it dosn't seem to click into place and just comes unattached with minimum effort (and without pressing the tab on the body). The aperture ring is off to one side as well.

The other one fits into place a lot better but the aperture settings, focus ring etc are all directly underneath the lens. With neither one does the camera give me the option of setting the focal length.

I'm assuming that some adaptors are better than others?

The one I bought is from SRB - no idea where the other is from.

I'm looking forward to using the close focusing abilities. Had one or two neck and back problems of late and enthusiasm has taken a bit of a dive - need to get going again. First year was all fun but trying to kick on a bit and it doesn't seem to be working.

ah! couldn't work out why it wasn't asking me for the focal length. Kept turning it off and on without the wee box coming up.

Morning folks

Just purchased the above lens at what I thought was a good price. Very nice it is too from what I've seen of the initial results. I've been using it on my K-5 on Aperture Priority - Is that the best way to use it. It came with an M42 adaptor - I assumed that the manual aperture settings would be on the top of the lens once attached but they are slightly to the side. It appears to be working fine but just wondered if there were any tips as to the best way to use the older lenses on the newer bodies.

A lovely spot to try it out at. Falcon Crag at dawn is a favourite of mine.

we have family membership of both the National Trust and English Heritage. I've always found it good value for money for the NT as it saves a fortune in car parking round the Lakes - we visit a lot of interesting places and both kids are quite into it as well.

Hopefully this year I'll try and start photographing some of them.
