Nope sorry - the dark frame subtraction is not an issue. This is entirely different. It only does it perhaps once out of every ten - sometimes more and sometimes less - long exposures. The shutter does not seem to close correctly or maybe hasn't opened correctly in the first placce, hence the different sound from the normal long exposure. The camera then completely freezes up - and will not come back no matter how long you leave it. I left it half an hour on one occasion for a one minute exposure. Its not a battery issue either as it happens with brand new ones.

Morning
I've been doing a few long exposures with the k-x since the arrival of the B&W 110. Most times everything works fine. However, I occasionally get a complete freeze up of the camera. I use a proper Pentax remote which I press once at the start and once to stop. When I stop the exposure it just makes a very small clicking noise (instead of the noise the shuter normally makes when it closes). The camera at that point basically seizes up and I have to take the batteries out to reset it.

I just wondered if anyone else had any issues or ideas as to what was causing it. Its the only problem I've had this far with the camera.

Thanks Barrie

It was getting a wee bit busy on there to be honest and I started to feel a bit of pressure on myself to regularly post decent images. I thought I'd rather come on here amongst other Pentaxians and just chill a bit - aim for my second year is just to become more technically proficient and improve my editing skills. Preparing for semi-retirement later this year so should have a bit more time

Thanks Barrie and Dave - I'm slightly spoiled for choice around here with the lakes on one side and the Eden Valley on the other. Thats some collection of lenses Barrie!

Most addicive hobby ever - just wish I'd taken it up sooner.

Joined the forum a month or two back but not really "joined in" yet. Took up photography about 360 days ago when the little K-X came through the door. It was supposed to be a way of recording my Lake District walks (I live in Cumbria 5 miles from Ullswater) but somehow the camera has taken over my life - the Sigma 10-20, 50mm, Pentax-F 28mm, Pentax-A 35-105 and a couple of others have already joined the growing pile of camera gear.

Intend to start posting a bit and trying to get a bit of critique on my landscape efforts - I opened a Flickr account but you don't tend to get an awful lot of critique on there.
