I've been trying not to buy that lens for over a week now.......It's soooo tempting, but I'd like to live long enough to see the new year in!

I was watching that Tamron too. But I have to pay for Christmas first before I can think about hiding any more lenses from she who must be obeyed....

Yep, I know what you mean John.
However as this was only a fiver I figured it was worth the risk. I did put witness marks on all the threads before I started disassembly though.
I'm glad to say it came out very well, ( at the second attempt!)
In fact I can't tell it apart from my other two 1.7's, beginners luck no doubt.
Thankfully the 50mm primes are a fairly simple design. Wouldn't want to try a zoom

Hmm, looking at that cross section it must have been the rear one I reversed.
Guess my memory isn't what it used to be. Oldtimers disease......
Same symptoms, centre sharp edges way out.

It's probably the middle (single) lens. Flip that over and give it another try. Don't ask me how I know......
To be honest it is hard to see any difference in lens curvature looking at a side view of that lens.

I saw a Pentax ad on the tube station wall yesterday! Advertising the cashback offers. Things do seem to be moving in the right direction , finally!

Mentioned this first thing this morning after spending last night gazing at the lens and trying to work out all the possible methods of financing it! The response I got
"Don't even think about it!"
Oh, come on. You don't really need a car do you?

Ooooooh! I want one of those.
But where is the aperature ring if it's a DFA. I would have thought the markings would line up with the depth of field scale.
